Has TK returned here?
Power via Battery, usb, wallwart were all covered in videos going back 9 month ago.

You Rock Guitar FAQs: ( May 2010)
NO LIGHTS?
If the Control Panel does not light up, change the batteries, check the USB
power (if used), and make sure power button is turned on.
NO SOUND?
Check the batteries, make sure the power button is turned on, select MUSIC
mode. Ensure the GUITAR or SYNTH button is pressed, then check the
outputs: Earphones or Amp. Refer to the Connection Panel page in this
manual.
TRACK SOUNDS BUT NO GUITAR?
If both Guitar & Synth buttons are not lit then there is no sound selected.
Select at least one with up/down arrows.
TRIGGERING NOT ACCURATE?
Replacing the Batteries - 4 x AA, this compartment is found on the back of
the guitar. Note the string sensitivity is analog and needs well charged
batteries or USB power.
WON'T WORK WITH VIDEO GAME?
A Gameflex™ cartridge is required. If you are not using the optional
Gameflex™ cartridge system, you will need to. Each Game system uses a
separate cartridge: Only Wii™, PS3™, and XBOX 360™ are currently
supported.
WARNING: Unplugging a Gameflex™ cartridge while the power is on can
DAMAGE THE GUITAR AND THE CARTRIDGE
I BROKE A STRING!
Some day someone might accidentally thorough thrashing, so much that you
broke a hi tension steel wire. OK, if that happens, email us for an immediate
replacement. They can be replaced if you are careful.
Before Requesting Service
Check your batteries (swap them out) or make sure the USB cable is
plugged in.
Check your Audio Cables or Check Audio out with headphones.
Power on/off on the connection panel; down is on, up is off.
Look for our suite of online videos to help you learn the many ways to play
the You Rock Guitar®. There will also be a suite of on-line videos for
learning guitar, music, and a rock song workshops.
FAQ YRG Librarian
===================================
1) Q: When I try to update the application freezes and displays STATUS:
Looking for Guitar…
A: Your Guitar is not properly connected to the PC. Please make sure the
USB cable is plugged in to the Guitar as well as the PC.
Also make sure your YRG is turned on. If it is connected and still not working
turn the Guitar off and unplug it from the computer.
Than wait for 1 min and plug it back into the computer. Now turn the Guitar
on.
2) Q: I try to run the program but it never starts or crashes.
A: Make sure your system meets the system requirements. Windows:
Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. MAC: OS X 10.3 or higher
Also make sure you are not running anti-virus or firewall software that
blocks applications from running.
3) Q: What does this mean - "STATUS: Connect to internet failed." ?
A: The Librarian cannot connect to the internet. Make sure you have an
active internet connection. If you are running firewall or anti-virus
software make sure you allow the Librarian to access the internet.
4) Q: I unplugged my Guitar when it was Updating, now it does not turn on
normally. What should I do?
A: You will need to run the Recovery tool, the Guitar was damaged.

5) Q: Some thing happened to my Guitar. It no longer turns on. I already
checked the batteries. What can I do?
A: Download the Recovery tool, see question 4.
FAQ YRG Recovery Tool
===================================
1) Q: What exactly does this Recovery tool do?
A: This tool restores your Guitar to it factory settings. It will erase
everything on the Guitar including your recordings and your downloads.
It should only be used as a last resort if your Guitar is not working.
2) Q: The Recovery tool never finds my Guitar, it keeps returning me the
screen with the battery bay picture on it.
A: You need to make sure your turn the Guitar on in recovery mode. To do
this you need to turn your Guitar off. Then you turn it over and remove the
battery cover. Now take a pen and press on the little black button above the
battery bay. With the button down turn the Guitar on. Note: It should
be connected to the computer as well right now. When it is in recovery mode
the red Music button on the Guitar should be flashing.
3) Q: Why does the Recovery tool need to connect to the internet?
A: In addition to restoring your guitar to its factory settings, the Recovery
tool updates the Guitar software to the latest version. This ensures
you have the most stable Guitar.

It's all done in CG! I can see the matte lines! I've seen better face animation in Polar Express! YouRock guitars are...PEOPLE!

But seriously, no keyboard samples in the entire onboard set of tones??? Silly hair band fuzztones and crappy-sounding 12-strings and tinny, fake-sounding acoustics only? That's crazy. A major blunder.

Notice how in the unboxing the entire emphasis is on the YRG as a teaching toy for little kids. Not one mention of midi function. Frankly all the chord charts in the box are readily available for free online and I'd rather have my kid practicing on a real guitar with real strings and real tone, building up his hands and his callouses for real playing in the real world. The YRG is actually a lousy learning tool compared to a real guitar.

1. Rock Band Controller -- way too expensive -- Epic Fail

2. Learning Guitar -- cheezy sounds -- no hand/finger conditioning -- no real tones -- no string interaction -- no real world musical performance application -- Epic Fail

3. Midi controller par excellence -- no lag -- no converter necessary -- no competition anywhere near this price point -- Epic Win

why do you flame it that much?. I dont get it,

that you haven't tried?!?!
And yet you are asking about things that have been
said dozens of times in yourock vids, are mentioned at yrg websites etc.
I understand that you are tired of waiting for it, I think

Me, I'm sticking to the topic at hand, the product. Much as I would love to respond in kind, that is, in an ad hominem attack mode banned by the forum rules, I will not. Have a nice day, and try contributing to the topic at hand for once, instead of flaming and trolling folks who contribute to the thread on topic. Gotta say fellas, it sure smells like touters on the attack.

Most of us (including myself) breezed by this one. And this is the main selling point to us.
Maruuk gave a completely honest assessment. It's not the best instrument it could be. It's the only option we have at this price point.

I'm sure I'll have some quibbles in the first few days of having mine when it arrives. I didn't love my babyz at first either. Which is why I'm going to wait three days after unpacking to give it a full review. I've got crappy computer speakers a mediocre guitar amp and even worse mic on my camcorder. So if I do a video review do the impossible which is ignore the sound quality.
