I've added two repeat key keyswitches (in the upcoming update) which make it easy to perform fast tremolos by cycling between the two notes.
thanx for your response Greg,
I'm happy that you don't seem to rule that functionality out :D

here's how I imagine it :

maybe it could have a behaviour similar to one of an upside strum
(e.g. triggered by a medium/high or high release velocity)
on a real guitar & just keep ringing until a new strum or mute is played,

OR, it'd stop by itself if it's a (soft, medium or hard) mute
(triggered by a low or medium/low velocity release) just like on a real guitar :D

(did you try Impact Soundworks' Shreddage ?
the muted strums on lower velocities work great,
it's very playable without using any keyswitch)

it'd be so awesome to be able to strum up & down by just with one hand
laying & repeating chords
& it'd allow much rhythmic freedom,
some musics don't require any tempo nor any respect of any measure or bar :P

& I thought that perhaps the sustain pedal could be used
to choose to play either sustained OR muted strums,
(it'd over-ride the velocity triggered sustain/mute situation)
it'd to allow to play series of upside OR downside sustained OR muted strums
& not be stuck in the binary downside/upside routine :D

& maybe a keyswitch could be used to reverse the order of that routine
& allow to play upside when we lay the chords
& downside when we release them :ud:

& maybe the modwheel (or an expression pedal or a knob) could be used
to define the strum speed ...

... or even better ! the strum speed could depend on how tight or how loose
the chords are played :D
but that might be difficult to implement ...

I don't mean to cause you any headache Greg :)
what you already achieved regarding the 'programmability/sequencability'
approach is remarkable,
but I hope that you'll like those ideas,
on the paper (in my kontakt-script illiterate mind :hihi: )
it'd bring a great & fairly intuitive playability to EEG Strawberry

blessings,

Eric

The last thing that I need to do is update the manual, not just with the new features, but flesh it out more in general.

I want to get the new NKIs for the lead guitar!

Here are the new lead patches: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/downlo ... atches.rar

Just replace your old lead patches with these new NKIs.

Here's what's new in the lead patches:

- Two "repeat last note" keys instead of one for easier tremolo picking.
- Two new "strum held notes" keys directly below the "repeat last note" keys. These new strumming keys are a downstroke and upstroke respectively. While holding down a chord, press these keys to strum the currently held notes.
- New default legato mode. This new legato mode will ALWAYS play legato articulations when overlapping notes within the definable legato range. So whether you're playing hammer-ons, pull-offs, or slides, you can count on being able to play legato within a certain interval.

Of course, when the full update is released, you'll still receive emails about that, and links to download the complete update (both lead and rhythm guitar components).

Thanks, Greg! :-)

Just one little request. Could you possible alter the keys for the up-/downstrokes to C5/D5 or C6/D6 so the Musiclab users can still use the right hand for strumming?

Thanks,

Tal

Hi Tal,

I can put the keyswitches on both sides of the mapping if you'd like. But I can't really assign it to a specific key because the mapping is dynamic--if you tune the strings differently, the range (and therefore the mapping) of the guitar dynamically changes.

Great. :-)

The keys don't matter. I just want to be able to use my right hand for strumming.

Sure! In that case, it's probably best to have the "repeat last note" keys have duplicates above the mapping as well.

Would it be difficult to provide a global pitchbend knob for the instrument with a range of 12 semitones?
This is outside of any trying to do it per string, etc. I know that may be another project/update/day...

The reason I ask is that I can get good results on some vsts using a global pitchbend setting on the vst, setting the channel to omni (omni may or may not matter), and setting my guitar to midi converter's string mode to COM (common) instead of SEP (separate).

Many vsts have global pb setting(s), so I imagine this would be useful for users who control Evolution with keyboard only, also.

With MIDI guitar, do you usually automate the global pitch bend to a MIDI CC, or what?

No automation or setting for midi cc...
Many synth vsts, e.g., Gladiator, Independence Free, SubBoomBass, Alchemy, etc. have a knob or parameter adjustment utility called Pitch Bend. I simply set it to 12 semitones on the vst and also on my guitar to midi converter. I make sure that it is also set to receive at 12 in my host (wrapper and channel setting in FL).
If a patch in the vst has a PB setting other than 12 (sometimes it's set to 2), I can simply set it to 12 and save a new version of the patch if I need it for later use.

I love the sound of the EEG update but I would like to have the sequencer in its current form included in the upcoming acoustic guitar library in addition to the updated strum palette patch.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
