thanx for your response Greg,Gregjazz wrote: Real-time tremolos using releases can be cool, but the tricky part is finding an intuitive way to perform stopping a note that's playing as a result of the release.
I've added two repeat key keyswitches (in the upcoming update) which make it easy to perform fast tremolos by cycling between the two notes.
I'm happy that you don't seem to rule that functionality out
here's how I imagine it :
maybe it could have a behaviour similar to one of an upside strum
(e.g. triggered by a medium/high or high release velocity)
on a real guitar & just keep ringing until a new strum or mute is played,
OR, it'd stop by itself if it's a (soft, medium or hard) mute
(triggered by a low or medium/low velocity release) just like on a real guitar
(did you try Impact Soundworks' Shreddage ?
the muted strums on lower velocities work great,
it's very playable without using any keyswitch)
it'd be so awesome to be able to strum up & down by just with one hand
laying & repeating chords
& it'd allow much rhythmic freedom,
some musics don't require any tempo nor any respect of any measure or bar
& I thought that perhaps the sustain pedal could be used
to choose to play either sustained OR muted strums,
(it'd over-ride the velocity triggered sustain/mute situation)
it'd to allow to play series of upside OR downside sustained OR muted strums
& not be stuck in the binary downside/upside routine
& maybe a keyswitch could be used to reverse the order of that routine
& allow to play upside when we lay the chords
& downside when we release them
& maybe the modwheel (or an expression pedal or a knob) could be used
to define the strum speed ...
... or even better ! the strum speed could depend on how tight or how loose
the chords are played
but that might be difficult to implement ...
I don't mean to cause you any headache Greg
what you already achieved regarding the 'programmability/sequencability'
approach is remarkable,
but I hope that you'll like those ideas,
on the paper (in my kontakt-script illiterate mind
it'd bring a great & fairly intuitive playability to EEG Strawberry
blessings,
