Yep.

Michael Crawford. Two Olivier Awards for best actor in a musical?
I was thinking of his being the first Phantom of the Opera.

OK, this should be easy.

What links the previous question, a 2004 lawsuit and a dead keyboard player?

Sadly, without googling, i may know this...

Michael Crawford sued one of the big Vegas MGM hotels once for a knee(?) injury he sustained while performing there, Liberace almost certainly had a residency or something at the same place..?

Excellent answer. Unfortunately, not the one I was looking for; and it was in 1998.

Arguably this should be Steve Harley. Did I mention what a great band Cockney Rebel were?

In that case I was led astray by an erroneous Wiki article.

Steve Harley was apparently lined up to play the role, and appeared on the single of the title track with Sarah Brightman, but then got dumped in favour of Michael Crawford. Andrew Lloyd Webber, eh? Not only ugly, but a bastard as well.

So we're both right...

I can't think of any very famous rock vocal performances (that is vocal performances that are famed in themselves, rather than as part of a rock track). :?

That's what the lawsuit was about, in a way. I stand by my original statement.

Also remember there's a link...specifically to the answer to the last question.

Re: the lawsuit. Thankfully, they didn't have to argue about who wrote the lyrics.

[Edit] BTW - hakey - I'm not remotely "superstitious", and I very much doubt any of the other regulars here are, but you never know who might take offence.
