Sadly, without googling, i may know this...

Michael Crawford sued one of the big Vegas MGM hotels once for a knee(?) injury he sustained while performing there, Liberace almost certainly had a residency or something at the same place..?

Steve Harley was apparently lined up to play the role, and appeared on the single of the title track with Sarah Brightman, but then got dumped in favour of Michael Crawford. Andrew Lloyd Webber, eh? Not only ugly, but a bastard as well.

I can't think of any very famous rock vocal performances (that is vocal performances that are famed in themselves, rather than as part of a rock track).
