Sooooo... Is the Exclusive Blue Cat's plugin collection currently $289 at DontCrack (said to be normally retailing at a whopping $1200) any good? :)

Edit: Based on the reviews I just skimmed through, and also some feature showcases on Blue Cat's own site, I'd say they seem to be very good indeed. I wonder why these have been off my radar, they have even been featured in SOS and everything. Oh well. Need to demo it during two weeks, I predict more tough choices for the summer...

Edit #2: And yes, thanks a lot on the Z3TA+ tip! I'm trying to decide whether I really really need it, but it's a stunning price for an already classic VSTi.

Simple answer, yes. Get it. You will use it somewhere along the line, and then you'll be happy you got it for SUCH a steal! :hihi:

I'm hoping that by fighting the urge to buy the synth, I will become a become a better person. It's a character builder.

This place isn't about building character. It's about building a software collection... :D

Give in. You won't regret it. :D

I especially like the "tone bar" along the bottom of the interface that allows you to wiggle the mouse and create some really freaky sounds.

I will resist, I will, you will, we will....everybody resist!!!

TBH I am not sold on these now if it were Soundtoys on a deal that would be a temptation I may have to melt the plastic for...

...of course I am an easy sell so please pursway me not to buy with plenty of reasons why :)

Wait the moment you realize you missed the killer deal.

Actually, I usually feel the pain after a purchase. After a few years on KVR...there's bound to be a bit of duplication.

On the subject of the DV247 Kontakt4 deal (bottom of p37 on the bargains thread)...

Surfaze, I think there were a number of conflated claims in your post, especially all the vague "illegal" stuff. This is a legitmate NI offer vie DV247 - the only qualification stipulated is to be an owner of "any software or hardware sampler". So unless anyone can show otherwise and DV247 are promoting this incorrectly (which is possible) I take this at its word. This means you can own a free sampler, such as paax2, CMplay etc and qualify. Also I find no limitation on the licensing terms for future upgrades, so again unless you can demonstrate otherwise this appears to be scaremongering. I see no difference in the terms of this offer and your own preferred one of getting a Kontakt Player library and going for this crossgrade deal instead (NOTE: NI call your deal a CROSSGRADE as well, not an UPGRADE... so why all the hysterical prose?)

If someone doesn't want the Sonic Reality deal (and - ahem - don't want to give you epoints!) this deal is an absolute corker. And just for the record - I already own K3.5 and about to get the upgrade deal to K4, so this promotion doesn't even apply to me... so you can call me unbiased! For someone without any Kontakt Player products currently, it's an unbeatable deal.

Me too. That's not what I meant with my post. I was referring to the idea of buying the crossgrade without owning a product that you can actually upgrade what was, as I understood, what you suggested in your post, right?
I do not think the deal on DV247 is illegal but I think it would be illegal to use it as a full version. Why would they call it crossgrade if it was s full version?

Erm.... You DO get the difference that NI actually confirms that "Infinite Player" is a product that can be crossgraded to Kontakt4. On their website. I don't see NI state anywhere that "paax2", "CMplay" or other free plugins qualify for a crossgrade. So the crossgrade that DV247 offer must be another one, one that NI don't sell themselves, that isn't mention anywhere and without clear info about the crossgrade requirements?
I can very well imagine that they have a deal with NI and they actually DO sell this but then they will clearly have an agreement about what qualifies for the crossgrade and I'd definitely check back before relying on the assumption that a freeware plugin actually qualifies.

noiseboyuk wrote:If someone doesn't want the Sonic Reality deal (and - ahem - don't want to give you epoints!)
I can hardly imagine someone would buy or not buy this because of a few epointz. Has nothing to do with the topic ;-)
In case you suspect that I posted the thing to catch epointz: If I'd been going for that, I'd have posted a short 3-liner saying something like "hey, there's an even better deal, 40$ more for tons of samples included and please use me as epointz referral" instead of writing the epointz stuff after looooong explanations. Apart from that, everyone on kvr anyway knows about the SR group buy and there's not much interest anyway so I wouldn't expect enough epointz from this post to even justify the time it took me writing it;-)

noiseboyuk wrote:this deal is an absolute corker.
You seriously believe that?
I mean don't you see that it should at least be confirmed by the vendor or the developing company that a free plugin actually is alright there?
And even if it's alright, I think there will be very few people that would actually let go of samples worth 400,-$ just to get Kontakt4 40$ cheaper.

Ok, for the record as well: I already own Infinite Player AND Steven Slate Drums, both are confirmed officially by NI to be base-products for the crossgrade, so I could already get it twice;-)
So you can call me unbiased as well;-)
I also didn't post this to gain epointz, neither did I want to make your deal look bad (why would I do that), I actually thought that the SR deal is better (as mentioned above: tons of great samples for 40$ more) and I wanted to warn people from buying something where the legal state not absolutely clear and not officially confirmed.

I edited my post other post a bit, hope it's clearer now, what I mean:-)

Best,

V

To be fair, these are both great deals - they'll suit different people I guess (Sonic Reality isn't for me, for example).

Meanwhile, the wording on DV247 is unambiguous - it's for ANY sampler. So you could have them for trades description if this isn't the case...

Alright, let's agree on that :-)

I doubt that one would go through the effort of sueing them if it turns out to be a problem;-)

Anyway, you're probably right, if someone is not interested in the Sonic Reality samples, why should he pay 40$ more to get something he doesn't want so from this point the DV247 deal definitely has it's place.

Best,

Planning a bargain right now. As you may recall I gave away my plugins as a prize in last year's DC. I'm planning to put that bundle up for sale.
