That's weird that the mute is probably designed for right side only. But I'm glad to see mine isn't some freak model.
They keep changing the library file as I'm downloading, lol. But I have the updater and control panel. It's pretty good as it came, but sensitivity could definitely be stronger, I use 3 mm picks and I'm not whacking it.

Here's (another) improvised example of the YRG, played as a MIDI controller, through a software instrument. As with the previous example, this is a single take, and not overdubbed or multi-tracked:

thats some exciting stuff right there! sounds like it tracks REALLY well!

I read...somewhere...that the Squire neck senses hand position and notes. Forget how they expressed that idea.Yes, info is really scarce at this point. From the photos, it looks like sensors on the frets to me.

You're not dreaming; I saw it too. But all the pages are blocked now. I hope they get it going soon.

At any rate, they ask us to wait for a more stable version. Using the current one is 'at your own risk'.

I'm sure a well intentioned employee put it on the web hoping to address the issue as quickly as possible. They are not unsympathetic to us. Upon review they most likely decided it would be better to wait for a more stable version that they could release as a beta.
Did you actually SEE where Inspired posted links to the tools? And where was that then?

Guys, please wait another 24 hours ... we will have the control panel working on the PC and MAC. We have been working on the pre-beta application and YRG firmware to allow several important new features:

4. preset parameters....

Thanks for the info Elantric. I thought that's what I saw, but I went looking for it and couldn't find it.
I hope they release something that works well - I don't need it in 24 hours, because my YRG hasn't shipped yet
.
Let me also re-state an earlier request: Can any YRG owner post a flat-picking demo? Just some scales at a reasonable/fast rate? (preferably a video, to be able to tell strike vs response time). All the finger-picking is fine, but it doesn't tell me what I want to know.
It would also be nice at this point to hear a compare/contrast on the right-hand picking response between the YRG, and the yamaha ez-ag.
Thanks All.

Sounds good. Thanks Elantric.
Except for the velocity maps, i'm guessing will also effect global midi-out...it appears all other updates will only effect the internal sounds. But i'm just guessing.

I can say right now that the strings on this thing are less then ideal.MisterAcoustic wrote:Thanks for the info Elantric. I thought that's what I saw, but I went looking for it and couldn't find it.

Picking is as tricky as pitch to midi systems. There is a 'too close' separation between false string triggers and no string triggers. There is also a quirk with open string triggering after that same string has been released from a fret. It will not-trigger the open string more often then picking a fretted string then going to another fret on that same string.
The faster you pick the sloppier you pick, the more frequent the mis-triggering.
Because the strings are inherently sloppy feeling, this effect get's out of hand fast.
I'll be very happy when this fretted to open string quirk is addressed. I guess they know about it?

I noticed today [internal sounds] that if I pick a note then hammer two semitones higher that the whammy bar will not pitch up the hammared note. Should it work like that? I suspect the hammer is sending a pitch bend sig that somehow cancels the same from the whammy...
I can't post anything like a video but I can tell you that I cannot hear any delay between string pluck and sound. But my ears are pretty much shot...

James asked;
Turn off the slide button and things should behave as you expect.
Although no hammer-ons..i think....
When the slide button is 'on', the hammer-ons will output pitch data.noticed today [internal sounds] that if I pick a note then hammer two semitones higher that the whammy bar will not pitch up the hammared note.

Haha..and that reminds me...unless your John McLaughlin, you don't pick every note you finger. Guitarists will finger more frets along the same string then string strikes, when playing a scale/solo.
No way to do this on the YRG I think...correct me if i'm wrong/missing something pls.
We will strike a fretted string note, then sorta hammer-on through a few other fretted notes before striking the next string fretted note.
I know 'tap mode' will allow us to sound note from just fingering, but when you want both, you get something like this;
- you press your finger to the first fretted note your about to play, you strike the string to sound the note. But on the YRG set to tap mode, the note sounds when you set your finger down...and sounds again shortly after when you strike the string.
I express the need for another mode where it's 'tap mode' but the first fingered note does note sound! Who's with me on this...i'll call Obama!
Haven't been playing it much...been somewhat busy recently...or i'm just lazy. :& P
Am I right about this..and should it be considered for a rewrite?
Never mind...I keep forgetting...it's not a guitar.

The only occasion where I can't successfully handle hammer ons and pull offs on the yrg is when an open note is invovled. this is programed in for a reason. Granted some have fall off however the control panel has a setting for hammer velocity.
The ztar has specific settings to where you can turn on or off hammerons and pull offs as well has settings to decay/delay/velocity. Which can come in handy if you used the full poly.

Why? In tap mode you can start starting from any finger. It's something that separates stick players and ztarists from guitarists.I express the need for another mode where it's 'tap mode' but the first fingered note does note sound! Who's with me on this
Take a look at any of my tapping videos

Ah...I see a typo in that quote. I meant to say;tapper mike wrote:Why? In tap mode you can start starting from any finger. Your question 'why' is moot. I later finally say;
"Never mind...I keep forgetting...it's not a guitar.
I'm sure you saw that...or maybe you wanted a reason to point to your youtube vid.
Just kidding. I'll have a look.
