I think tempo was 120 and samplerate I use 44.1 (less fuss to convert  ).
Anyway, there is a workaround.

Thanks. Researching things further...

I'm happy that you found a workaround so that your creativity is not obstructed :)

As a music software developer i do want to make this work perfect of course. Working on it

If you'll add cross fading between audio tracks, audio quantize/stretch/ pitch shift/correction and some amp simulators I will declare your DAW the most perfect and you the god of music programs !

That's quite high on the wishlist, will certainly be added. (asap)
audio quantize/stretch/ pitch shift/correction
For recorded audio files?

What's exactly your workflow here? What do you want to do?
some amp simulators
Arent there good VST plugs doing that job?

(not that i don't want to implement it, but i think if there are good VSTs doing that job, i should not prioritize this atm)

I'm quite sure i found the problem.

Based on what i researched here the problem is not depending on whether the audio recorder is connected thru. (aka the monitoring connection)

What i experience here is that sometimes, i.e. not always, there is a little delay in the audio recording because the recording is shifted 1 buffersize. With a buffersize of 1024 samples at 44100 that is 23 ms, which is, at 120 bpm, 1/21th of a beat => a 1/84th grid point. (1 beat = 1/4th on the grid)

The slower the computer and/or the higher the cpu weight of the session, the higher the chance on such delay.

This was also the case in earlier versions of MU.LAB, but as we can record the output of a module now, this bug gets more highlighted. Will be fixed asap!

I'm surprised (but happy) you could hear such a small delay when recording your live guitar! Or maybe there is something else there. But i propose we try again after you've installed the next update (3.1.30, coming soon) where the above bug has already been fixed.

so... I'll prepare the god for the medal ;)
audio quantize/stretch/ pitch shift/correction

Something like elastic audio/time warp/ Melodyne.
You know, when you record a bass player that have each 1/8th on a different tempo  and you quantize audio to match with the actual song he's supposed to play in...

I was trying a funk rhythm, with wah pedal, so easy to hear any small rhythmical detail. Also I think that the latency was bigger. My computer sometimes gets very slow.
Maybe it's also my soundcard (M-Audio Delta audiophile 192). Good sound but buggy drivers, always with problems.

Hey, that's cheating! :P :hihi:

That's my line
Yes, it is, but I'm tired of spending nights to edit tracks of bands. There is Melodyne but instead of giving them 178 Euro (or how much costs the VST plugin version) I would rather give the money to Jo :D

Ok, i see.

I'm afraid this is not yet for tomorrow.

(i'll soon post a topic about the next steps in MU.LAB's life)

Could you please try again the same funk rythm guitar using this new MU.LAB patch:

Does audio recording work fine now in all situations?

Post

When recording through rack now seems to be perfect. It is in sync also if I add some VST effects on the recording chain.
when I record without target (output to "audio output")it seems to be before with 3/128ths.

Oops, i'm afraid i don't clearly understand your description.

Lets focus on the case where it is not yet right.

Can you please describe the situation that is not yet working as expected, eventually including a screenshot. Thanks sorohanro, and sorry for all these technical questions.

Ok, i have been experimenting more and noticed that when you record the audio input via a rack or any other plugin, then the audio engine latency compensation is not applied, while it should be applied. This has been finetuned in version 3.1.31 which is available here: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/test/mulab ... -patch.zip

Is it perfect now?

Please retry recording that funk rhythm guitar with wah pedal.
(almost sounds like a tasty menu item in a resto :D)
