This will make the values accessable.

Also I got an "Unknown Command" when trying to select Volume

Running vista 64 here
Ok...Get preset got it to un-grey preset area...but not Performance Parameters area.
Hitting the Reset button in the Performance Parameters area un-greyed that area in winXP.
This app will crash sometimes. Even though it shows 'connected' it will not always read guitar ID info until 'get preset' is depressed , as Mike has shown.

I'm trying to find the best String Sens with the new app. I figured that old app +1 would equal new app 7. But that doesn't seem to be correct. Trying 5 now.

String Sens 10 is most sensitive and seems best for scales.
String Sens 9 is less sensitive and seems better then 10 for chord strums.
EDIT: 9 is working nicely all around.

Control Panel app v.00003 will say 'acknowledged' at app top border after a 'set' button is pushed.

One thing I noticed;
-if you hold the guitar up and look down and across the strings...line them up to your eye...you can measure the string tension with your eye.
The looser the string, the higher it will sit above others not as loose.

I've found this to be a very easy way to set the string tension of the other strings after one is set to your liking by trial and error. :D

I just noticed something as i'm playing...
I don't know how to turn off the hammer-on feature.
If i'm picking each note along a string, it gets sounded twice...once when my finger hits the fretted note, and again when I pick that note.
It has a sound like gating...not good.

This could very well be why faster playing by me, seems to cause what sounds like glitching and false reads. It's my fingering that's also triggering notes before I pick them!!!

Any one know whats up with this?

EDIT: I also notice, when I play a bar chord, and lift my hand from the strings, I might lift one finger before another finger that is also in the same string. This causes notes to sound. This hammer-on feature or whatever it is, is causing problems. Makes everything sound sloppy.
This effect is not as bad when laying a mono-phonic synth preset like unison leads because you can only sound one note at a time, unlike poly-phonic.

It was noted earlier that one of the mute contact bars were not internally connected...
I can see the reason for that...I rest my hand against the bridge cover.I'd surely be muting the guitar lot as I play cause i'm always touching it.

Either your in tap mode. or you are hitting strings at the cieling.

We, guitarists always learned to hod the position before hitting the string. some of that carriss over it tap mode. we fret before we pick. It shows when you tap.

Another circumstance is if you hit very hard. you get snap back from the string for lack of a better term "bouncinb" back into position.

Are you saying you are not able to hammer-on and pull-off all the time with the YRG?
It's always active on mine.

I'm plucking very firmly (fingerpicking-style) and getting about 1/3 of the notes plucked. Ridiculous, these guys are clowns. Had no idea, zero, how to set it up for a normal range of plucking velocity.

Also getting approximately 300 ms lag. About a third of a second, maybe a touch longer. Gigantic lag, longest I've ever had with any midi instrument. And that's in Cubase 5 with a fast ASIO set to its lowest possible buffer times--under 10ms. I can't set it any faster.

This is completely unplayable as it stands. Not even close. Sure I can hunt down a hex driver, loosen the strings, wait for the new app, but what's going to cure the insanely long latency? This "no lag" crap is a scam. HUGE lag is more like it.

Now maybe through some miracle once the string sensitivity gets adjusted the triggering will speed up or something and reduce the lag, but I doubt it. I can trigger the occasional note now, and it sounds way after the actual pluck.

Less complaining, more action.

Addressing the lag...my card is set to 512 buffer samples...which at 16 bit res is 11.6ms.
I'm not hearing any discernible lag. Maybe they don't like you and sent you a bad one.

Just read about the 'open' button in the manual. It's a little vague but it basically sez 'with the button 'off',striking an open string will not sound it.
I tested this on and off, and i'm not see any difference.
I'm thinking it's a firmware prob and maybe it's fixed in the next version?

I'm on firmware version 1.028.
Is there a newer version out yet?

Sorry riley.
At the you rock guitar web site, you should be able to find a dlownload link for the YRG manual.
The last page goes into returns. (maybe)
It sez if you remove the guitar from it's plastic packing, the return is voided.
But 'runbeerrun' said they want a restocking fee for returns.

In addition...do I need to open the YRG and USB driver(DLL.) in order to update the firmware version through I think the Control Panel?

I need a smart person with some answers pls. :D

USB - The USB interface transfers MIDI data so that you can control
music programs on your computer. It is also used to update sounds and
programs from our web site. Follow the instructions provided on the web
site for any system updates

As an early receiver of the first set of shipments I provided a brief review at the YRG facebook and youtube sites and mentioned some of the annoyances mentioned in this thread.

Are there other (non inspired) links to the control panel?

So far by the way, I like the YRG. And do does my 3-year old grandson.

I have four GK-capable guitars and do a lot of MIDI (live as well) so I am always looking for a better alternative...looking forward to the not-so-secret "Pro" version of the YRG, as well as the replacement necks (strat, LP), not just headstocks....

Anyway, I hope the future stays bright for YRG and midi guitar..

It appears the QT_Librarian originally posted was to update the 'system' to 1.303 from 1.028.
There is also a library update to 0008 from 0007.

The QT_Librarian.exe app was unable to connect to the net. (Error Status)

The version 003 control panel appears not to have a capability to do updates through the net.

So it appears that they have not yet completed a means to update the YRG system and library.

This app is no longer available. We are still waiting for a means to update.
