Long envelope times, How?

Is there a trick to getting long envelope times, particularly what I need right now is a long decay time (pitch envelope)? I've set Env2 decay to the max, set general time to both 16sX and 10s, tried to modulate dacay time in the ModMatrix via gate and others, and I still can't get a decent long decay time? Is there a trick to doing this or are long env times not in Zebras bag of tricks?

in 16sX mode I believe the max period of each stage is 16 seconds in 8sX it's 8 seconds. In 4/1 I can make the envelope last a minute when i turn the BPM all the way down because the max length is 4 beats at whatever tempo your project is running at. You can however create much longer envelopes with the MSEGs.

Usually for something where I need a specific long time I just resort to automation rather than using an envelope...

Use MSEG.

MSEGs can probably decay for an hour or so.

Actually, MSEGs set to [Seconds], Attack knob at -4.00, first point at start +100, second point at unit 128, 0.00, takes about 35 minutes to decay... that should do in most cases :)

I guess you could also try adding some sustain with decay, then turning the F/R knob to the fall side (left) slightly.
Although as stated above, the mseg method is the best way, and gives more control of the envelope.

Duh... using MSEG. Thanks everyone!

MSEGs do allow for some really long attack and decay times (and visual envelopes!) but they can't be set as an envelope in the voice mix section and therefore can't be used to create very long release times, is that right?

Also, I don't understand the units along the graph in the MSEG editor when TimeUnit is set to Seconds. It seems like the time it takes to get to around 9 is about 30 seconds. It doesn't seem to be in bars or seconds.

No problem - just sustain notes.

Try turning down the volume, and using ModMatrix to open it up - should work :)

That's a good idea -- I was running the MSEGs directly to the individual oscillator's Amp knobs. It worked, but the ModMatrix to the Volume would be more elegant.
