Well how about that, they had an undocumented feature.
Still it's not like one could tune the individual frets to keys.

- Cubase5 works
- Chainer works
- Nuendo2 doesn't work
- all the korg standalones don't work
- Minimonsta standalone doesn't work
- Massive standalone doesn't work
- and a few others I tried last night.

Tracktion, Reaper and Studio One don't work. Same deal, you can select the YRG under midi input, but then it says "You have not selected a midi input device" or something similar. Strange. I too got it to work in Cubase.
I'm in Vista 32. Wonder if it has anything to do with OS? Probably just sloppy/lazy coding of the driver leaving it incompatible with half the DAWs out there.

Thanks for checking. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for the Rock Band Mustang controller!annode wrote:Sorry, I don't see anything but the standard stuff coming from the guitar. No data from neck by just touching the fretboard not in tap mode.

I haven't tried connecting anything besides my Yamaha DX-7 keyboard to my computer in forever. So, I'm a little confused why you need a 'driver' for anything... Can't you just use the MIDI jack?lxm wrote:yikes. im a reaper user myself.Maruuk wrote:Tracktion, Reaper and Studio One don't work. Speaking of Reaper, shouldn't it be fairly easy to write some scripts for the YRG MIDI output? For example, I thought about annode's double triggering, and it seemed like you could reject duplicate notes in a certain timeframe. Also, if you expand the MIDI response on the YRG so that it outputs 0-127, you could then write a script for reaper that 'compresses' the range a bit to even out the response to a smaller range...
Ok, I haven't done anything like that, but it seems possible. Anyone know for sure? (when my job gives me a break, I can install Reaper and find out...)

Works for me using the USB to power/send MIDI on Vista32, Reaper and Savihost.

Ha...Just hooked up my Roland GI-20, and despite my rotten guitar strings, it's tracking very nicely.
I still own an older PC (2.8 hyperthreaded Intel) so kicking my sound card up to 5.8ms at 32 / 44.1 with a VST project running, can cause me some CPU probs.
When the YRG is finally bugged out and updated enough, i'm hoping it will close that gap between CPU and latency.
So in the mean-time,i'm running with my Roland.
EDIT: I'm having some great fun with the Roland! Something that the YRG has not been able to do for me. (so far)
Sure. No prob with doing that here, I have an 8x8 midi processor.I haven't tried connecting anything besides my Yamaha DX-7 keyboard to my computer in forever. So, I'm a little confused why you need a 'driver' for anything... Can't you just use the MIDI jack?

I'm running vista64. prefer wmd/directx because it's so transparent it's like glass. Still I don't have any problems going asio and running it thru any of my daws. I still get inconsistent velocity responses.

I just noticed this on the YRG Facebook page. Sound familiar?

I just noticed something as i'm playing...
I don't know how to turn off the hammer-on feature.
If i'm picking each note along a string, it gets sounded twice...once when my finger hits the fretted note, and again when I pick that note.
It has a sound like gating...not good.

I made a few changes that helped to a degree to alleviate some of the string switch bounce and the hammer-ons.
- removed the strings sensor cover,(where the neck PU would be on a guitar).
- adhered a strip of soft foam about 1/4" thick onto the inside cover of that cover plate, and re-attached. It helped to deaden string vibration which causes false-triggers.
-When the YRG is placed into mono-mode by holding the midi-button down and incrementing the counter up to #17, strings 1-6 each output their respective midi channels 1-6.
- In mono mode, a hammer-on/pull-off, will only send a velocity 1 out until the string is re-struck. On VSTi which employ a legato setting,a hammer-on/PO will only trigger the sustain element of the VSTi's note and not re-trigger the note from it's envelope's attack. This helps so you hear the synth's attack only when you pick the string and not when you finger another fret on that string while holding the struck note at the same time.
It's just a temp thing as far as i'm concerned because you can't play chords if you wanted to, it's only single notes for leads/soloing/scales.

Like crap.lxm wrote:hey guys just curios. how does the casio dg-20 trigger sounds? anyone use one of those with vst's?
The strings are very loose and no matter how I try I can't get them tight enough for a solid rhythum. It also lacks velocity sensitivity.

It's not clear what you mean exactly when you ask "Sound familiar?" James.JAMES L. HARRISON wrote:I just noticed this on the YRG Facebook page. Sound familiar?

I'm not that guy on facebook if that's your point. His words are eerily close to the words I have used to describe it. He's for sure using my words. But it's not me. How ever it gets said...spread the word.
Do all the YRG do exacly what He and I say they do?...Yes they do.
EDIT: read it again, I see that's an exact quote from a post I made here! Jeez, talk about plagiarism. haha
