I just want to say that Cliff from YRG was super helpful in getting my YRG restored.
From now on I'll just be a little cautious next time when i update, and wait to hear a few user reports before I take the plunge.

OK ... we found out a few things ... on Vista and some Win 7 computers the OS does not copy the file from the system temporary folder to our folder (probably a permissions issue). This results in the updater erasing memory and then writing garbage to the guitar ... we will fix this immediately....
WORKAROUND: It seems to work if you set the YRG_App properties in Vista to Run as administrator.
RUN THE APP AS ADMINISTRATOR...
(Properties-->Compatibility--> run as administrator)
If you have already bricked your guitar using the Updater - you need to run the Emergency tool ... contact me at yrgbugs@gmail.com and I will help you with that.
cliff gave me a link to a app where i can use restore
and now i am back, where i started with a functional yourockguitar
well i actually got the newest update too

It looks like a z6 only smaller. The neck looks smaller then standard ztars. It appears they have redone the neck strings. Smaller then a z5 or a babyZ yet not miniscule like a yrg.
For this type of instrument they should partner with an american company like Delco who already know how to mass produce reliable electronic instruments. The only question is will the demand be there? It's not going to be a bargain basement instrument

For the record - I did not write this: Annode did
"So let me get this straight...
If you finger a hammer-on, while NOT in tap mode, your second fingered fret does not sound it's note.
Just look back a few pages on this thread - I post this same info here every 48 hours. See Bottom of Page 70Elantric, which sensitive settings did you do ?

The "hack" had nothing to do with the software, which bricked my YRG [It's now repaired]. It was just one of the scam virus scanners that does a fake scan of your pc and tries to con you into buying their bogus virus software [which itself may well have a virus or other malware]. It probably wasn't even on the YRG site, but somehow managed to get itself launched when you clicked on that site. I was one of those attacked.

If it'snot a user oversight like i'm assuming above, a hacker changed the code in the firmware dload...maybe.
I have a Restore_app. if you need it.
Just PM me.

On my "bricked" YRG I was able to repair it just by right clicking on the YRG APP then choosing "run as administrator" [Vista 64 bit OS]. YMMV.

I'll second that! He was super patient with my follow-through and spent all the time it took [loads]! As swamped as I think they are I'm kind of surprised. Kudos to YRG on that effort. I think he had several others called in before we got it hashed out.

I love my expression pads. You can program the hell out of em or you can ignore them.
If your someone who doesn't have long fingernails and likes to finger pick you'll love em. I can tap em faster then I can flatpick.
I only use octave up/down on my baby-z because babyZ's don't have the range it's only 16 frets (no idea on the scale length of the "rock controller" so don't ask me)

Personally I kind of like having these posts here. I like KVR. There's something nice IMO about not having to post on an "official" forum for the product, as sometimes they tend to be dominated by fanboys. I like well rounded discourse without the hype..lxm wrote:NEW YGR OFFICIAL FORUM:

James writes seemingly about the quality of my warning and virus software;
Sorry i wasted your time.
I'm running Symantic (Norton anti-virus) It even sez Symantic in the warning.It was just one of the scam virus scanners that does a fake scan of your pc and tries to con you into buying their bogus virus software [which itself may well have a virus or other malware]. For those of you who think Cliff was your savior;
He was actually the guy responsible for your bricking in the first place.
If he had it together he wouldn't have posted the updater app. and firmware before testing it with other operating systems besides winXP.
He helping you all because he f**ked up.

I just gotta say, and this will get me slammed, but i'm never run across a dumber group of ppl in one place in my life. Sorry, but i'm tellin it like it is.
