i can only add that my YRG results match jackstrats. Although i never get the "double trigger ghost notes" on any string.
Be sure you have not accidentally set "Tap" mode" ON

So let me get this straight...
If you finger a hammer-on, while NOT in tap mode, your second fingered fret does not sound it's note.

This is all getting a bit much.
Alpha and beta releases are exactly that. They are for testing purposes only If you are not prepared for risks do not use. I've used the alpha and beta versions of the control panel.exe and the YRG app with no problems. Complaining that an individual is hacking to destroy the products usefulness especially when that person works for the company is b.s.

It was just one of the scam virus scanners that does a fake scan of your pc and tries to con you into buying their bogus virus software [which itself may well have a virus or other malware]. It probably wasn't even on the YRG site, but somehow managed to get itself launched when you clicked on that site. I was one of those attacked.

I'm running Symantic (Norton anti-virus) It even sez Symantic in the warning.

i keep getting a pumping noise, also when there is no music playing
have tried that?? or just with any mp3 player.
if not, could you please tell me, if you got the same problem.

seems to be a power issue, i think perhaps it was lack of batteri on my iphone , i dont have the problem now

Actually I had rehearsal last night, and have not posted since yesterday afternoon. Whats up with the 'tude dude?


i suppose I'm one of those players who picks every note 99% of the time, and I had not stumbled on the YRG's single string Hammer On behavior until you pointed it out. Yes, when playing a single string, mine reacts as if "Tap" mode is engaged, and all subsequent hammer-ons playing on the same string will trigger with no picking (as if Tap mode was engaged) . I imagine a future firmware/ control panel app may provide a solution, if this behavior is not to your liking. Doesn't really bother me, as i can adapt my playing around it. just my opinion.

When the red music indicator is flashing during normal play that means you have made some change that can be saved . Beyond that I'm really vague.

If you hold down guitar or synth button when you change patches there is a different response than if you just hit the up or down arrows to change patches. Try that and see if the flashing stops.

What I've noticed is that if I don't hold down the guitar button while changing patches then IIRC the indicated patch number does not stay changed. And if I don't hold down the synth button when changing synth patches it turns on the guitar patch button.

Is the Red Music indicator supposed to flash all the time...never noticed it before (flashing).

Also, regarding the Ghost notes, I was going to ask you guys to try something for me and lo and behold, I now AM NOT getting the ghost notes. Yippe!

I don't think you'll get any argument that the name "You Rock Guitar" is just wrong in a lot of ways

However, most people posting in this thread are NOT interested in the video game aspect of this device.

As a guitar-shaped MIDI controller though, it offers the best bang for the buck of anything available - if you are able to work through the version 1.0 blues

Hi folks, I just bought Casio MG 510 - a 23 year old guitar that I fell in love with after 2 days of playing. Regarding YRG here is my point. I have seen few dozens (possibly all) YRG videos and none was convincing, the sound, expressiveness were mediocre. It's very opposite to the Yamaha EZAG (which I enjoy) and Casio demos. Like the examples
YAMAHA EZAG:

Apart from the tech issues of delays, dynamic range and sensitivity there is a plain aesthetic feeling of an instrument and its sound which is captured immediately by anyone with a musical ear. YRG sounds like a sega / gameboy music to me, very mechanical, non expressive especially if compared with alternative or even ancient MIDI technologies. Is that me only who have this impression? May be it's a lack of good demo?

Trust me, the EZ-EG is clunky and stiff too, and has far worse problems with its insane midi channelizing which forces you to use a complicated midi filter/router app between you and your DAW, and then there are major handshake issues between the app and the DAW. No thanks.

The EZ-EG does play its lousy on board tones quite well. Hammers on/off etc are surprisingly well implemented. But triggering externally the same aspects that shine with the on board tones fall down badly. You have to tweak the third-party midi filter/controller very carefully to even get close to the smoothness of the on board performance.

Bottom line, the EZ-EG actually is pretty cool to take to a gig and play the piano tone through an amp. It sounds neat and will totally freak out both your band and your audience. But the fun stops there.

I own the MG-510 too (Black version)

Its a great guitar - made in the same factory as the late 1980's Ibanez Roadstar's

i love its octave select and, the the YRG's "FretSelect" to change Patch on the fly is a borrowed idea - straight from the Casio MG-510.
