A "true bypass" would mean zero latency. For the latency compensation to work properly, the plugin would have to be programmed so that it preserved its normal processing latency also in the internal bypass mode.

I don't now the technical details of true or fake bypass, but for instance Nugen Audio's Seq1 has a HUGE latency, but there's no problems, so I don't know what you are talking about, maybe we'll let Vojtech to decide. :)

Yes, of course ;-)

Hey guys,

Ok Vojtech...

Let me reformulate, perhaps as a question..

I am playing an evolving synth pad. Let's say that when I play a note, it lasts for 3 seconds. I want the tremolo to kick in after one second of audio, not immediately when I press a key and trigger a note.

What is the easiest way to currently set this up?

This is the reason I am asking for a start time delay slider, to delay the start of the tremolo effect.

If this slider existed, I could set it's value to 1 second (or 4 beats, or whatever..). Then, when I played a synth note, the 1st second would just be the input audio without the tremolo effect and the tremolo effect would only kick in after, for the next 2 seconds.

The way I am doing it right now is assigning the sound I am playing (synth) and a fruity envelop controller (with which I control the dry/wet slider on the tremolo) to a layer, but a simple start delay in the plugin itself would be a lot easier..

Well Miloslav, you kind of got the point ;). It even didn't occur to me. Anyway the bypass is implemented, but only for VST3 it synchronizes with hosts bypass as VST3 does not allow bypass at all. And about the latency - basically when bypassed the plugin stops working, so the bypass itself occurs later (because hosts compensates latency). When you disable the bypass, the actual output will start later again continuing from the previous signal, which is definitely not ideal for plugins with big latency, but AFAIK there are only the linear phase equalizers and MSpectralDynamics, so we'll have to live with it .

I don't know Philippe, this seems pretty complicated. You know, for example what with polyphony? You could theoretically use a modulator for it with MIDI reset, though I never used it. The idea is to use it with MIDI reset, map dry/wet to it with very small frequency and a curve looking like this:
______________
___/

This way when you press a note the dry/wet goes to 0 and after the hill up it gets to 100%. No idea if that would work though :).

It works :)

I just tried it.

I created a custom envelop shape starting at -100%. It plays for the length I want. Then it jumps from -100% to 100% (a vertical line) and stays at 100% until the end. Linked a MIDI Out in FL Studio to the MIDI Reset in MultiBandTremolo.

Layered the MIDI Out and the synth I am playing so that when I hit a key on the keyboard both the synth and the MIDI Out play.

Nevermind my request for the delay slider :) This works even better because I can control when the tremolo is on or off at any time. I can even have the tremolo on for just 1/2 second in the middle of a note being played. Just tried it too. Works like a charm.

Thanks for your help

I love that you have so many plugins that one of them usually always shows up in the "Random plugin of the hour" on KVR :)

MAnalyzer.

Any chance of making it so that the Left and Right channels can be seen in the graph at the same time? Overlapping? With a way to distinguish left from right.. ( 2 different colors perhaps? )

Please do this, and I will switch from Span to MAnalyzer :)
