The Hero (Rising of a Hero)

Advanced Media Tracks 2: Classic Composer (free download for everybody until January 5th, 2009)
Maize Sampler (for glockenspiel, patch made by me, glockenspiel samples by angstrom)
Choir made with Papelmedia free soundfont.
Track sequenced and mixed in Mu.Lab.

Damn, sounds good!!

Very nice on my ears after a day of technical work :)

My logical brain gets silent and my heart pops up when sensing this music.

Now where's the movie of this music? ;)

I hope you get an interesting movie soundtrack contract one day. (maybe you did that already?)

PS: A detail but maybe try blending the glockenspeil into the music a bit more, it may be a little little bit to prominent now, imvho. Could be done by slightly decreasing the volume, and/or lightly increase the wet/dry of a reverb on it. Just a musical thought, not sure about it, maybe A-B compare and see what sounds best.

Thanks Jo, you're very kind :)
I'm glad that you like it.

Made some music for several movies, some small independent projects. I'm still waiting for the "BIG ONES".

Yep, you're right. That's what you get for mixing in headphones late in the night
Actually, I don't know what to do with that glocken... if I make it less it's not enough of t, if I let it like this is too much... maybe I change the sound completely.

updated:
Less volume on glockenspiel (as Jo suggested), more reverb to blend in the mix, added Taiko drums.

A pity you overwrote the first version, can't do A-B now...

I have some thoughts about things i would like to try with the mix, but i can't describe it here, would have to have the music at my fingers to try some things out, you know how it goes.

Anyway, it's a great little piece of music :tu: :hail:

Post

Well, if you want, I can put the separate tracks for download :D or export a midi file.

Post

Yes, thank you, but i would have to install the VST plugins as well + find the time to really concentrate on it <-> finetuning something (whatever creation) takes time, you know. I'm afraid i can't make a relaxed time frame for it at the moment. Which really is a pity
But i would love to hear the first version again so i can do A-B one time :)

Post

Well, I can put the waves rendered at 32 bit, mono and dry.
Anyway, if you want them just PM me. As for plugins, all are free :D

OMG, that's great, sounds awesome to my ears :violin:

I'd like to hear this with a real orchestra.

If you put the midi file maybe i could try to make it sound through my kurzweil and give you the audio tracks so you can mix it if you want.

Post

Interesting kinky proposal with the Kurzweil... maybe... maybe.
Thanks
Also, Jo, check your e-mail :D

Another MWM - Piano Trio (MP3)

This has mainly piano, bass and drums with the Stand In Piano taking the lead. It noodles around with mostly just block chords and a number of non-Mulab effects to extend the ensemble.

The drums are the Mulab House Kit which was uploaded some time ago, but here's a chance to listen to the samples.

Awesome.
I'll give more feedback a bit later. Now I just wanted to share something found in "Music Cafe":

Piece for Coffee Can and Voice No. 1
I've seen there in the description "Used: MU.LAB, CamelSpace, Therapy, arcDev ET-301, Pitch Shifter, AriesVerb, Glace Verb, GHi, QB3, FerricTDS, Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch, coffee can, voice, cat (one of the static sounds, from a failed attempt to record purring with the contact mic), homemade contact mic (almost everything recorded with this), borrowed Ampex H-1390 mic (some of the percussion that starts around 1:07; everything else with the contact mic)".

pljones ...
I tried to use the madewithmulab site but failed with an error code 2. Pretty sure this means my upload is too large.

I was trying to store the HouseKit zip file I made, but it weighs in at 2.9MB. All the samples are embedded. The suggestion to use links to the samples is not viable for something like this, because this would require someone to re-build the Multisampla before using it.

Maybe you have another suggestion/solution to integrate this file. Here is the original post -- Mulab House Kit

Ah, you were trying to upload the kit. Given our upload bandwidth, that's really not suitable content for the site (it's sitting on a machine in my living room using the ADSL line, so there's not a lot of upstream speed - hence the request not to upload samples).

Post

FYI: I'm also looking for solutions regarding this and already collected some ideas. I think it's very important to be able to exchange mu-stuff easily, as well within your own setup (between sessions) as with other users.
All being worked on.

One suggestion is to create a Yahoo Group e.g. Mulab Users Group. Yahoo groups have file folders for storing user files by group members. Folders can be setup for patches, musessions, mp3's, samples, midi sequences, plugins, etc. File space is fairly generous. Members must join Yahoo and then must join the group to become a member.

Group messages are used to announce uploads.

All that is required is for a Yahoo member to become a Moderator and setup a group. The moderator essentially controls the membership.

Anyone have any ideas along this line?
