I'm trying to help a friend with very limited time. Can someone please help me understand how to install Akoustik Piano into Receptor 1?
I mounted the Receptor onto the desktop and then dropped the entire AP folder into the Drop Installers Here folder. Of course that didn't work. Then I remembered to transfer the samples over directly, but I don't know what to do next.
Is it best to use the Drop Installers Here technique? What exactly do I put there?
Thank you for your help!

Hey,
Akoustik Piano actually installs via the discs it shipped with using our Direct Install technology. Just put in the first disc, then open 'receptor remote control' and click the button for direct install. At the top of Direct Install is a white space to search for the plugin. Search for Akoustik piano then follow the buttons that say 'begin installing now'.
If you happen to NOT have the discs with you, you can install it in direct install using the update file. Just go to www.nativeinstruments.com and click on support, then updates. You'll have to login to an NI account that has akoustik piano already registered. Download the Akoustik Piano 1.1.3 update for windows REGARDLESS of wether or not your using a mac or windows system (receptor uses the windows installer). You can then use this installer in direct install by clicking on 'latest update' on the akoustik piano page in direct install. Once it's installed just move the samples over to C/program files/Native Instruments/Akoustik Piano/ and you should be good to go. an outline of how to register it can be found at www.museresearch.com/updates.php (just scoll to the bottom of the page). Hope thats not too confusing. Remember you can also open a support ticket at www.plugorama.com/hd.php if you need further help.

Thank you so much, Kevin!
I realized it was better to do it that way but had to install 2 software updates to enable Direct Install.
I do have the discs so I will try it now before I have to meet my wife for BBQ! Do you know if I need to transfer the samples separately?

samples should be copied over as part of the direct install process...it'll just keep asking you for the next disc.

I've done everything I know how to do, but I still can't install AP with Direct Install. Everything's registered and authorized, software is updated, virus protection and firewall is disabled. I have a crossover ethernet cable and Receptor is set to crossover.
I launch Receptor Remote Control, it identifies my Receptor, I search and highlight AP, but when I click Begin Installing, I get a message, Receptor was unable to access this computer. Please check the Help Desk for further troubleshooting. The Help Desk doesn't help!
What am I missing here???

Timbres,
I don't know if this is your situation, but about a year ago I had a similar problem using my older Mac running OS 10.4.11. Muse Support told me that that particular OS version wouldn't allow external "users" (i.e. Direct Install) to access the CD/DVD drive on my Mac. They also said that the problem was rectified in OS 10.5.6, but I haven't verified that is true. (I haven't used direct install on my Intel Mac running 10.6).
Anyway, just throwing out an idea in case you were running 10.4.11. Good luck!
Also, I would suggest you open a support ticket at Plugorama. http://www.plugorama.com/helpdesk.php

Thank you for sharing your experience batgab.
This laptop has XP Professional installed, and I did open a ticket last night. Unfortunately, they won't respond until at least Tuesday.
I was able to install the Akoustik 1.3 update from NI's web site, but something didn't install correctly. It shows up in the viewer but there's no sound. I had already copied the samples over from the disc when I was trying to install the instrument with the Drop Installers Here method, but was told to place them in the common Samples folder.
How can I point the program to where the samples really are?
For some tormented reason, I can't copy or move anything around on the Receptor HHD anymore.
I can't even imagine trying to install my copy of Kontact with multiple instruments and presets.

Yeah, my crossover adapter didn't cross anything except me! It was wired exactly the same as standard - go figure.
Do you know of any info explaining live performance setups, being able to change VSTi's on the fly without loading delays? It must be a very common need.

Snapshots (or Snapshot Multi) are the probably the best way to use multiple VSTi's in a live performance situation. Navigate from the Muse home page to support/manuals and then look in the most recent updated manual (1.3?). There is information about Snapshot Multis and IIRC an example.
I have Ivory, Scarbee Rhodes and Wurli with various effects (in two Kontakt instantiations), VB3, Pro 53, Omnisphere (3 instantiations), and a couple of other things, all available (just like a hardware module) with a program change from my keyboard.
