Uhbik effects crash Reaper 3.2 in Vista64

So every time I start to change parameters in uhbik effects like Runciter, delay, etc, Reaper just up and crashes without fail. I've got a monster i7 9.20 12gig system so I can't blame the PC and other effects plugs don't crash reaper like these do. The problem seems to have gotten progressively worse to where I almost can only select presets. As soon as I start to change parameters it crashes. Also I seem to be able to automate the parameters with no problems. WTF? Any ideas?

Here is a thread someone else created about this same issue on the cockos forum that I just found and replied to.

I have tried to replicate this - can't get Reaper 32 bit (3.63) to crash while changing presets or params with Runciter 32bit or Reaper x64 3.63 with the 64bit version of Runciter. However this is on an i7 system but running Windows 7 x64 so maybe this is specific to Vista?

Hmmm, not sure which version of Reaper I have. I'm out of town till Sunday, maybe I can manage to try it then.
Have you tried the latest 64-bit beat version (in this forum)?

No I'm still running the 1.1 32-bit versions. Where do I find the 64-bit versions?
edit: Oh I see. They're in beta. Damn I'm a bit nervous to use em since I'm working on finalizing a bunch of mixes for mastering. Hummm. Maybe I'll install the newest version of Reaper first and see if that helps.

In 64 bit Reaper? I take it you're using Reaper's bridge or are you using JBridge? That might be where the problem liesRawTheory wrote:No I'm still running the 1.1 32-bit versions. Where do I find the 64-bit versions?

Yeah I'm using Reapers bridge. Is that known to have problems?aMUSEd wrote:In 64 bit Reaper? I take it you're using Reaper's bridge or are you using JBridge? That might be where the problem liesRawTheory wrote:No I'm still running the 1.1 32-bit versions. Where do I find the 64-bit versions?

I don't know but I wouldn't be entirely surprised - I think bridges in general are not the ideal solution and certainly a bit of a work in progress technically. tbh I've preferred to install both the 32 bit and 64 bit Reaper flavours and for each just stick to their corresponding plugin flavours. Eventually they will all be 64 bit and we won't need such workarounds.RawTheory wrote:Yeah I'm using Reapers bridge. Is that known to have problems?aMUSEd wrote:In 64 bit Reaper? The thing is I've had almost zero problems with any of my other plugs before recently and just with uhbik. And now uhbik is such a bread and butter set of plugs for me that I'd love to have em working proper. I won't abandon the 64bit environment just for them though.aMUSEd wrote: I don't know but I wouldn't be entirely surprised - I think bridges in general are not the ideal solution and certainly a bit of a work in progress technically. tbh I've preferred to install both the 32 bit and 64 bit Reaper flavours and for each just stick to their corresponding plugin flavours. Well the 64 bit version is here (in beta) so you won't need to. It's working OK for me so far - no bridge needed.RawTheory wrote:The thing is I've had almost zero problems with any of my other plugs before recently and just with uhbik. OK just out of curiosity I've tested Runciter 32 bit in Reaper 64 bit now (bridged) - apart from the bridge wrapper not quite fitting the plugin window (it needed resizing manually) I can't get it to crash even being quite "rough" with it and recording automation. So maybe back to the earlier "Vista" hypothesis?

Well I'm not so sure because in the other link I posted from the reaper forum a guy with the same problem was using Win7. I am the one who started that thread on the Reaper forum. I was seeing frequent crashes using the 32-bit Uhbiks in 64-bit Reaper on 64-bit Win 7, but have not seen any crashes since using the 64-bit Uhbik betas instead. (I see some wierdness with a few other plugs that worked in 32-bit reaper so I attribute much of that to the VST bridge)RawTheory wrote:Here is a thread someone else created about this same issue on the cockos forum that I just found and replied to.

You could install the 64-bit betas and try them out along side the 32-bit Uhbiks. In my reaper VST selection list they show up as separate plugins with names something like 'Uhbik D' and 'Uhbik D (x86)'. You could copy your 32-bit versions to a backup directory just to be safe if you like.
The latest betas have been very stable for me.
