Hi :)

I just encountered a problem that I can't make go away, and its stopping me releaseing an EP now as I can't find a way to re-create this awesome zebra patch any other way, and I need to re-bounce this track!

basically I've opened up an old track probably written with a much earlier version of zebra 2 and this awesome arpeggio patch no longer stays in time with the track. Listening to it on its own, and its quite easy to hear the swing starts off exactly how I want it and gradually gets 'straighter' over a period of time.

If someone else could try this it would be freatly helpful to see if its just me or everyone has this problem.

start from an initial preset
turn on the arpeggiator and set it to 16th notes
turn the swing generator to 50% and set it to 16th notes
now you get a nicely swung techno groove, that for me rapidly gets out of sync with my daw.
I'm sure it didnt do this in the past, as I have used this kind of swung groove in zebra arps quite a lot, but i suppose I failed to notice when this started happening.
It seems so simple, and it would be odd if no-one has noticed this before but maybe no-one has been using swing lately?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm... I had to fix something in the Swing stuff to prevent it from crashing under certain conditions... that was for 2.5 - maybe it broke things

Can you revert to Zebra 2.3.1 and render the track? (download links are at the bottom of Zebra's downloads page)

Does it help to retrigger the arpeggios every few bars instead of holding notes for a long time?

Thanks Urs

I was a bit stupid for not just doing this in the first place (reverting to 2.3)
but thanks it sorted out the problem.

Retriggering the arpeggios wasn't really an option as there was a long arp mod sequence which was really making the patch, and retriggering made it nowhere near as cool sounding.

So yeah, not to pester you, but is this going to be hard to fix? (swing)
I've been using it more and more lately.
thanks a million

I think for a proper solution that stays tight and all I have to rewrite certain parts of the affected modules, e.g. Arp, MSEGs and LFOs along with the main swing generator. I don't think it's much work, but I will have to squeeze it in with all the other things.

Fortunately we'll have an update-to-everything soon, when the 64 bit versions come out alongside some bugfixes. That's a good occasion, and it would be great if you could keep bugging me until it's available as a beta.

Cheers,

;) Urs

For any reason i cannot go back to 2.3.1 , i don't know why it says a newer version is installed.

I deleted the .plist file and all the text files as well as the vst and component files..even the automaped one..

Did i forgot something? I really would like to check that out..

Check the Receipts folder and trash those packages too
(if your an administrator)
HD/Library/Receipts/Zebra
also try trashing the Support files under
HD/Library/Support Files/U-he
(backup your mseg or wave files first from inside there)

Hope that helps.

Try restarting your mac, then repair permissions, then try again.
Make sure you trash the Zebrify, and Zebralette files too.

Try this freeware file searcher. It's works better than the default file searcher that comes with mac osx.
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/s ... yfind.html

Search...U-he or Zebra, and see if you missed something.

hm, i did what you said but no luck..

I remember that i already switched back some time ago and all i needed to do is to delete the.plist file and the vst/component..

sorry for getting offtopic here..i think i need to wait for Urs, maybe he can help me out..or do you have any further suggestions?

cheers

Sorry, all out of ideas here.

Hmmm, trashing MacHD/Library/Receipts/Zebra*.pkg receipts doesn't let you install the older version? Have you also tried to delete Zebra2.component, Zebra2.vst and - if you have - Zebra2.dpm?

You could still use a tool called "unpkg" to extract the .vst/.component. The .vst however will *only* work as Zebra (an installer script must be run to transform copies of Zebra2.vst into Zebrify etc.)

I deleted everything yes..

so i could install the 2.5 version and exchange the vst with the one i isolated from the 2.3 istaller using unpkg?

Yes, that should work.
