just a heads up to everyone.... i called them and they are sending me a new one pronto. very good to deal with over the phone.
it scares me a bit that people on here stopped talking as soon as they got it. that tells me that they are not diggin. they NEEEEEEEEED to put our a control app to take advantage of this thing. i get all sorts of double crazy notes as it stands now. needs to be addressed!

Quite frandly it is the most uneven responding midi instrument I've ever played. Yes I've been playing guitar for over 30 years now and midi guitars for well over 20 years.
The only time it plays with an even response is if I jack everything thru the roof and then set the curve to a fised velocity of 120. Which come to mention it I don't hear any dynamics in "MW"s playing. I like to be able to play at a fast 16th note setting 1 in 8 notes is still a miss.
The neck is too wide and thick. If it has that much size it should have a rounded fretboard a 10 inch or 8 inch curvature to the fretboard would make playing barre chords a thousand times easier. I've already covered that and my rant about the string membrane in previous posts. While some aspects of it make it better then an ez-ag. It's still no ztar not by a long shot.
I put all by guitars away for a week and a half trying to aquaint myself with the instrument. I gave it more then a fair amount of time to try and get into it's subltites and muances. I did all the updates and I tested all versions of the control panel app.
After that I picked up my babyz. I have had no desire to even pick up the yrg in the last 6 days. Because every day the babyZ plays right as rain.

The neck is way too NARROW for me. For clean execution of various right-hand styles including finger-picking, any midi guitar needs an absolute minimum nut width of 43mm, and would really benefit from about a 1 3/4" neck. By comparison, classical (nylon-string) necks are around 2", with Flamencos wider than that.

To be perfectly honest, I don't much care for it. I know I shouldn't expect much for $200, but given that an M-Audio Oxygen series keyboard is definitely a playable instrument for the same or less money, I had higher hopes for this.lxm wrote:just a heads up to everyone.... i called them and they are sending me a new one pronto. very good to deal with over the phone.

As it stands, it feels extremely cheap, doesn't play well as far as reliably triggering notes, and is extremely uncomfortable with its flat fingerboard.
I have higher hopes for the Starr Labs Rock Controller, but at this point, I might just be better off waiting a few months and getting a Z5S.

You guys are depressing me. Mine is in the local area; I'm expecting delivery tomorrow or the next day.
I'm crossing my fingers that I'm one of the lucky ones with regard to the string sensitivity and responsiveness.
I really want this thing to work
I know, if wishes were horses...
Still, in spite of the overall unevenness of Inspired's response to things in general, it does seem like they are concerned about having the instruments function properly, so if I do have issues, there may be some recourse.
Come on, somebody post something about good results with the YRG... please?

Thin tall fretboard. It plays like a dream for me.

I got mine 7 days ago but I haven't opened the box because I really don't want to be depressed anymore. I'm waiting for the new software to be released to address the sensitivity problems.MisterAcoustic wrote:You guys are depressing me. Thanks, I didn't know about that forum, http://www.yourockplanet.com/.Maruuk wrote:Check out the support forum, it has some strategies to improve sensitivity and overall playability, and will offer the actual approved control panel when it's done.
EDIT: Wow, I just opened the package, downloaded/installed the updated firmware, and it works pretty well! I already recorded some cool stuff. It's feels toyish but once I get used to it, it will definitely replace my regular piano MIDI controller.

I'm really hoping it works well out of the box, and I'm excited to find out. And, I'm willing to take my lumps if it doesn't work out that way. I'm mainly concerned about mechanical things that might be out of whack - the software side will get there eventually.
Go on, open it
