Lets see some you tube videos please. Apart from YRG's Mattias, I've yet to see a single video that has been inspiring.

I think - maybe - I can do better than anything I've seen yet :)

I just got my YRG, and I'm still digesting my experiences so far. The right hand strings are...not perfect :).

I can already play faster than anything I recall seeing - but getting consistent note triggers is difficult. Also, I'm not hearing any volume dynamics with the settings I'm using so far - I think that can be addressed.

And then, my video camera is out of the country with the rest of my family :) The first things you hear from me may be audio only.

I haven't had time to plug into my studio yet, but I can tell you that if the MIDI data is sent anywhere near as quickly as the internal sounds respond, you will not have to worry about tracking delay. It's been many years since I tried to play my Beetle Quantar, but the YRG is faster than that I'm sure.

All these things take time. I'm on the learning curve, and I'll post audio, or videos if possible, as soon as I can.

Mines good out of the box, no updates. I do get double notes sometimes but i just delete them before i quantize. At first it felt weird but the more i play it, the more i like it (This is the first midi guitar I've owned so i cant compare it to anything). I don't think i need to adjust the sensitivity on mine it plays fine, finger picking and with a pick. Only problem is it glitches out sometimes and doesn't play a note, but that is if I'm doing a lot of bar chords i think and it might be because I'm not pressing hard enough, but I've been playing guitar since i was 12 so i doubt that. Some times i can play a open string, then hammer down on a note and sometimes i can't its just random. Overall i like it a lot for $200. But I'm also looking forward to the rockband 3 stringed guitar.

One good reason cj's may work well is because maybe they're now shipping with the upgraded 1.3.1.9 firmware (reads 1.0.4.5 on the guitar). Reports say it helps responsiveness and playability.

There isn't any tracking delay; tracking delay refers to the time it takes a hex to midi converter to determine the correct note. There is no tracking in the YRG; so no tracking delay. The switch under the membrane fretboard is an on-off device, and effectively determines the correct note instantly.

Luck,
James

Not to split hairs too much, but I believe 'tracking delay' refers to any delay introduced by any means between the time a note is sounded and the time MIDI data leaves the instrument.

That includes pitch-to-midi conversion time in those types of systems (not the YRG of course), or resolution of a fretted note in a sonar type system. It would also include any delay introduced by determining that a note was actually struck.

Still, since I haven't tested it yet, I don't know when the MIDI data leaves a YRG - the internal sounds trigger instantly (if they trigger...), but the MIDI data could leave the guitar next Tuesday for all I know :)

Cliff @ YRG has confirmed to me that all the new units coming out the factory have the latest software on them. I enquired about that when asking him when the UK were getting their first shipments.

Press your Music button and hold:

you may see the following scroll by in the dual digit LED display.

C: 1045, L: 008, P:013

where C: = Firmware version , L: = Library Version, P:= Preset Table version

Post

Mine says 1045 when i hold down the music button. then it says like L, and 13 later.

You're current then. That explains the solid performance. Mine is 1028 and plays like shyte, to use a quaint middle english term.

You should upgrade then, 1045 works pretty good.

Haven't had time, plus if you don't do it exactly right, it bricks your hardware. Swell, great design fellas.
