MU.LAB Unlimited

Hello Jo
I'm lucky enough to have the Unlimited version of MU.LAB 3, and - apart from a little 'old' nidi-player program (from 1995) - MU.LAB is now the only DAW on my system (and I couldn't live without it !!!).
Sometimes, on the forum, a topic being discussed might involve features that are not available in, say, MU.LAB FREE - eg Subtracks.
Such topics may prompt MU.LAB FREE users to think about upgrading to the Unlimited version but, among them there may be people who wish that there was a "Demo" version (ie a full version of MU.LAB 3 UL, but with some sort of restriction, or limit, 30-day expiry, etc) - so that they could try before they buy.
Once they have unleashed the full power of MU.LAB, then sooner or later they'll probably invest.
So, I was just wondering if something like that may come in the future ?

MU.LAB FREE does support subtracks.
In fact MU.LAB FREE is also a kind of demo for MU.LAB XT and MU.LAB UL

Ah, yes ... my error.mutools wrote:MU.LAB FREE does support subtracks.
I had added a subtrack to the 4th track (while the other 3 tracks were present), and then when I drew a Part for it, it showed as muted.
I realise now, that for a session having (for example) just one track, then 3 subtracks could be added to it before reaching the limit.
Sorry about that.
I agree ... and in my opinion it is, without question, doing a great job !mutools wrote:In fact MU.LAB FREE is also a kind of demo for MU.LAB XT and MU.LAB UL ...
I just have this little thought (and it be only me !), that there could be some people who may 'resist' purchasing UL - until they have tried out something almost identical with the full version - despite the pricing being very fair, etc.

MU.LAB FREE is identical to MU.LAB XT and MU.LAB UL.
The only differences are listed here:

OK. - I'm beginning to see the light.mutools wrote:MU.LAB FREE is identical to MU.LAB XT and MU.LAB UL.

When I look more closely, it's probably coming down to only the differences in the numbers of 'Tracks per Composition', and the numbers of 'VST plug-ins in database' (with other differences being less important).
But, with MU.LAB's flexibity regarding multiple parts per track, module-targeting, etc, perhaps MU.LAB FREE is not too 'limiting' after all.
I'll go and do some gardening now (!).

MU.LAB FREE definitely is a very usable tool! (if i may say so)
It's much more than a x-disabled demo version!
Happy gardening

Just to let you know.
I bought unlimited license for Mu.Lab 2.7, which give me the right to have the Mu.Lab 3 UL but didn't asked Jo yet to send it.
Why ?
Because I still use 2.7, I have to finish the projects started and only then I'll switch.
Another reason is that I have also the Mu.Lab 3 Free and I use it to make demo songs or projects that can be played by the free version. I find it challenging but at the same time not too limitative.
Tools are the same like UL but you'll have to get more creative and use just 4 tracks (actually those limitations force you to use modularity and freedom of routing which make Mu.Lab so unique).

Is there a demo of the full version? I appreciate the free version, but I would like to at least try the features described in the full one.mutools wrote:MU.LAB FREE definitely is a very usable tool! (if i may say so)

I have tried the free version. To be honest I do not love it. I was hoping to try the features that are not available in the free version.sorohanro wrote:Hard to read, isn't it ?ravasb wrote:Is there a demo of the full version? I understand that it is free, and that is very generous of the dev. However, I would like to see how it performs with lots of tracks and VST and maybe with something rewired into it. I use renoise a lot and rewire it into my main DAW. I don't purchase anything without taking it for a full spin.

The whole thread points out that the free version have all the features of the unlimited version.
That's almost all discussion here, how the free version is actually the same with the unlimited, but limited at 4 tracks.
Now, you can route each part of each track to as many racks you want. There are demo songs that you can download, that use this feature. Go download and see.
Rewire works fine also in the free version. Mono, but working.
Running VSTs is without problems. The number of plugins used depends on the power of your computer.
