janamdo, a demo version will have other restrictions of course. For example it would be save disabled.

And then you're testing a product, and you build up some tracks, 6, 8, 15 tracks, well you really are building up something, and then... you can't save :?

Something like a nag screen would be an option too, but then i can't create multiple versions (FREE, XT, UL) of MU.LAB.

Or are you really suggesting to make MU.LAB UL free? That's not a realistic option, i think.

Oh, and by the way: In fact MU.LAB FREE does support unlimited tracks, it's only that tracks 5-... are muted. But you can tryout MU.LAB's multi-track capabilities to enough extent, imho. Maybe i'm still not seeing the point?

You can do that..but than you will never ever become a millioniare

Suppose ..as new customer i do want use the MU lab full version for a limited time to get a idea of this program
You can limited the use of the program by
- or by time .. 30 days
- or by use .. a number of saves can be made

Let him do his thing with Mulab with unlimited tracks
And who is gonna manage this thing ?
This, as Jo explained earlier, raise many problems from combating piracy point.

I remember a game I liked that got discontinued (I think) and at different points in time they offered 2 different demo versions.
Version 1 was having all levels but was restricted to one week of playing, second was restricted at one level but unlimited time to play.
You just had to install version 1 (to have all the levels) and then over it version 2 (to have the game engine unlimited time) to have a fully functional game.

I''m not saying that this is the intention of who requested this, but this can be one side effect for Jo.
Would you like to see this awesome program waisting to toilet because of this ?
Me, personally, I would like to see Mu.Lab future development. It is my favorite tool (after trying Cakewalk, Cubase, Nuendo, Pro Tools M-Powered, FL, Reason and Reaper).

As i stated before i like to see a full working demo version..that's all

janamdo, can you give a reason why a full working (save-disabled) MU.LAB UL demo version would be better than MU.LAB FREE? (still looking for a reason)

The "why not" has already been answered. The "he's completely right" is subjective and, hence, irrelevant to this discussion. There are multiple "right" answers depending on your point of view.

It's very easy to buy it.

Can't believe this has got to four pages... remind me, what was the problem with a free version that lets you try every single feature in the program?

It's not a different experience working with one track among 100 than among 4, you know.

Brew your own coffee for a month and you buy yourself a wonderfull DAW and then, with the same coffee, sit down with MuLab and enjoy the "Warp Ride"! :D

Hi!

I just read this topic and I think I can give a reason why I would like to test the fully functional version.(That is if the rewire functions are different)
I downloaded the free version because I am looking for a recording studio that could record live audio at the same time as it's connected as a rewire slave or as a rewire host (if it's able to read tempo changes from the slave).
So I tried the rewire functions and with the free version I can only use it in "host" mode, meaning that MULAB finds other daws rewire but "Notion" (as I am using), are not able to find the MULAB rewire, neither can Reaper or Logic.

Is it so that MULAB is only function in rewire "host" mode?
Is it possible to make MULAB read tempo changes from the "slave" when running in "host" mode?

There's no difference in Rewire functionality in the the other versions, only the number of channels.
