Drumset with Multisampla - why doesn't it work?

Hi all,

I'm new to the MU.LAB today, so after trying around and searching the documentation and this forum I'd like to ask your support in two issues. Here's the first:

How do I get the factory "Drumset" to work?

I set up: New Track => Choose Target Module => New Module with Rack, where I've chosen => Synths/ROM/Percussion/Drumset. An ERROR occurs, saying "Couldn't find sample 'Clapp.ogg'". The error message, unfolded, says e.g.: "{AppLibrary}/Samples/Drums/Claps/Clap.ogg"). So I located each sample.

the result: It appears Multisampla, wherein the MultiSampler, if opened, shows "Drumset" as selected MultiSample. On the keyboard layout single samples are assigned.

the problem: I can't get any sound coming out from this setup. I can press the keys in the MultiSample layout - nothing can be heard. I can set any level from Track down to MultiSampler to be played from MIDI Input - no audio output. I can open a Sequence and try to place events - no sound.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!
Christian

Seems weird...
What OS do you use ?
What version of Mu.Lab you use ?
How did you installed it ?
Do other sounds work ?

Thank you for prompt reply

> What OS do you use ?
OS X 10.5.8 on a PowerBook G4 (PPC)

> What version of Mu.Lab you use ?
MU.LAB FREE 3.2.3

> How did you installed it ?
Copied into /Applications/Apps for music

> Do other sounds work ?
the synth modules work fine
some FX modules don't appear on the screen (only a some pixels large something)

additional observation: The same error "Couldn't find sample XYZ" occurs each time during start up of MU.LAB (a demo song being loaded).

I'm a Windows user, I have no really clue about Macs, but seems to me that is a general problem.
Maybe the archive downloaded was corrupt in some way or you downloaded only the patch to 3.2.3 instead of all application (with all libraries).
Try downloading again.

Hi Mihai,

I followed your link to download another package, then just dragged the MULAB folder into my /Applications folder, and opened the program.

Unfortunately, the problem persists. When I select the Drumset, it can't find the samples and asks me to locate them.

Hi Christian,

Like Mihai I too am on Windows and do not use macs.

The main developer is on annual leave.

I know that there are a few mac users here on the mutools forum and may be they can shed some light on this.

It seems like file path errors to me.

I can only think the current 3.2.3 version is have issues with your OSX version.

Anyway welcome, hopefully the developer should be returning soon or at least one of the mac mutools forum users can help in the meantime.

Stick around I am sure it will be resolved one way or another.

I think this problem may occur when you're on a case-sensitive file system.

I'll further improve support for case-sensitive file systems.

(even though i wish they were abandonned for i don't see any advantage in differentiating between file "MyText.Txt" and file "mytext.txt")

Post

Indeed, my file system is case sensitive. So I'm looking forward to the next version then!

Might the other problem I posted, i.e. the module windows that don't appear, also be related to the case sensitive file system?

Post

Yes, the other prob may also be a case-sensitive issue.
