Combo Model V

Post

I have just released the final version 1.0.2 of ComboV:
  • Fixed crashes with GarageBand 5.1 and Logic 9.1.1
  • Restored support for Windows XP SP1
  • Very slightly improved overall efficiency

I have just released a new beta version (v1.0.3 beta) of Combo Model V. This new version is a service release, which brings the Mac version up to speed with the Windows version:
  • [Mac OS X] Edit parameters using keyboard (Cocoa only)
  • [Mac OS X] Open PDF documentation from within plug-in
  • [Mac OS X] Smaller binary file size
  • [Windows] Improved editing parameters using keyboard

Version 1.0.3 beta2:
  • [Mac OS X] Edit parameters using keyboard in Carbon hosts
  • [Mac OS X] Improved editing parameters using keyboard in Cocoa hosts

Really like the combo... would it be possible to add adsr?

Not without a partial rewrite of the model, so at least for now it is not possible.

On a side note: I have been experimenting with a seperate effect plug-in that triggers and automates the volume pedal to create a channel-based ADSR effect. This effect is what is called "percussion" in old Farfisa and Gibson combo organs. If I would develop this idea further, then this new effect plug-in could be used with ComboV as well as with other virtual instruments. Then again, such an effect plug-in may already exist, I don't know.

I have released version 1.0.3 beta3:
  • Improved editing parameters using keyboard
  • [Mac OS X] Right-click to activate editing parameters using keyboard
  • Updated to WDL v2010.08.16

I am trying to use Combo Model V in Cubase LE (the version bundled with the Presonus Inspire) on OSX Tiger. It is listed as a VST but is "oranged out". The AU version works fine in Garageband. Any advice would be welcomed.

Post

I am not familiar with that edition of Cubase. However, Google says that certain Cubase LE versions will only load two VST instruments at the time, so perhaps that is the problem?

I have uploaded version 1.0.3 RC:
  • Improved editing parameters using keyboard
  • [Mac OS X] Open PDF documentation from within plug-in

I have been working on version 1.0.4, and I have just uploaded a new beta here:
  • Added loading/saving default MIDI map
  • Added option to clear MIDI CC mappings

I have just updated ComboV to version 1.0.4 RC.

Thank you very much for the freebie for a 64-bit environment! I confess I wasn't enthused about an organ, but your plug-in looks great and I'm pretty sure it'll sound even better! :tu:

EDIT: I went and tested it in ORION x64. It seems to work fine so far. But I would have to write a song using it...

There's something maybe you should modify in the x64 installer. It should not install (by default) to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins". Just remove the "(x86)" including the space before; the "C:\Program Files\" folder should be for 64-bit software only. A minor thing, really, but I felt it needed to be pointed out.

Again, thanks for your generosity! :)

Thanks for reporting. I have just uploaded v1.0.4 RC2, which should fix this, and another issue:
  • Load/save default MIDI map now uses data path instead of plug-in path
  • Better detection of VST plug-ins path during installation

I have just released ComboV v1.0.4:
  • Added loading/saving default MIDI map
  • Added option to clear MIDI CC mappings
  • Revamped about box
