I know! But that's exactly (and only thing) what I miss in Zebra now. To be able to use a sample as base in oscilator for further tweaking.Urs wrote:Hey, keep in mind: Wave import would be for waveforms for oscillators.
Sampling is still pretty much out of Zebra's focus, but I'm feeling more and more comfortable with a rompleresque module for some oooh and aaah action alongside a selection of transients, and maybe a tool to create your own 2-or-so-MB sample rom.

i just "own" the demo version, so i'm not the most qualified to talk,...but i technically agree !!!FarleyCZ wrote:I know! But that's exactly (and only thing) what I miss in Zebra now. +1 to wav/aiff import.
I would really like if I could choose whether the import should resynthesize the importwave into one wave in the oscillator or split the importwave into 16 chronological parts and then automatically fill out the 16 waves in an oscillator.
Besides importing a wave (wav/aiff), what about "importing" a file (XML/plain text) that contains information about the partials? It could be a simple thing like a commaseparated file that contains the number of the partials and their corresponding volume.
Here are two of my wishes:
If you implement some sort of samplemodule/rompler in Zebra, then it could be useful to have a module that can do some kind of granular synthesis. Uhbik-G in Zebra. That would also be very useful in Zebrify.
A new oscillator that can do some kind of physical modelling (PMO?). I know that the comb filter can do a lot, so maybe that would be a waste.

And an usability wish: When I use the Tune dials sometimes I need to set them at whole octaves (12.00, 24.00 etc.). I have difficulties hitting these values precisely, so a small pause maybe when these values come up would be very helpful.

I don't know if the pause is the best solution but i can say that i am experiencing the same problem.Donner wrote:And an usability wish: When I use the Tune dials sometimes I need to set them at whole octaves (12.00, 24.00 etc.). I think that a double click and type the desired value could be another way to solve the problem.

Hold down Shift, then click and drag the knob. The knobs will go into fine-tune mode.Donner wrote:And an usability wish: When I use the Tune dials sometimes I need to set them at whole octaves (12.00, 24.00 etc.). I'm concerned about adding sampling features to Zebra, however if it was cool and different I'd come around quickly
In another post someone mentioned a bigger pop-up wave editing window like the midimapper has, and I would love to see that!
Also want to say that I'm in no hurray, just want to hear more about Zebra's future. It's such a killer synth!
Best regards,
Gino

Every time a U-He product gets an update before Uhbik X is released I cry a little.

I was going to say that I don't think Zebra needs any additions for a while, but seeing the small list Urs posted, I would thrilled with arp presets. And I do think that a solid swing is a high priority.

No updates to anything other than 64-bit and bugfixes before Uhbik-Xzerocrossing wrote:Every time a U-He product gets an update before Uhbik X is released I cry a little.
I got some great encouragement recently and an idea that might help a lot. As of course an editor with 4 Uhbiks of the current size would be severe overkill I always thought I had to redesign them all (Cinema4D -> Photoshop, a week of tedious work). But how about stuffing 4 "small" Uhbiks with teh current design into the same space as a single Uhbik and have a switch to alternatively display any of the 4 in original size (similar to the views in a 3d-modeling app). Above that would be the master section with the main display and routing options, and below that would be a tabbed interface with LFOs, MSEGs and the ModMatrix. Something like that...

I could definitely go for that... so count my vote.Urs wrote:How about stuffing 4 "small" Uhbiks with teh current design into the same space as a single Uhbik and have a switch to alternatively display any of the 4 in original size (similar to the views in a 3d-modeling app). Yeah, and I'm also contemplating a quick & easy mode where knobs only dial integer values - which would make certain knobs (any semitones or partial parameter) way more usable.

That sounds useful, if we can quickly switch it on/off from the main interface. One thing i wouldn't like to lose though, is the way i can use the mouse wheel to scroll values 2 at a time (2,4,6,8, etc). I find that method really nice to use. Keeps things clean and simple, and makes it easy to see when a value has changed because of a misclick, rather than because i set it there.Urs wrote:Yeah, and I'm also contemplating a quick & easy mode where knobs only dial integer values - which would make certain knobs (any semitones or partial parameter) way more usable.
One thing that i would like to bring up though... what's with the instability in the comb filters? They seem stable for around 3 or 4 bars, and then suddenly switch to a slightly different sound (timbre?). In fact, it's such a big change that i don't use the comb filters because of that. Annoying, because i really get some great sounds from them.
Is there any way to somehow stabilise them? Maybe some kind of note retrigger? Or am i just not using them right?
