Well, since I'm from Holland... Feedback.nl still advertises the V-Machine for only €199. A true bargain, so I forwarded that to the keyboard player in our band. He tried to get one, but the current stock is sold out and SM-Pro will not deliver new stock any time soon.pichonz wrote:I couldn't figure out the Dutch site.

It wasn't a well-planned product. Definitely underspec'd in this day and age, they should've known better. Then again, I just need some freeware VSTi to run flawlessly!

Everyone loves these rumors... units are certainly being manufactured and sold. If you want to buy some we can send you to several stores. Last 12 months working on V2 release and if you paid attention to the website (SMPROAUDIO) you would have seen the new bundels and vast improvements.

You quoted my post without responding to the question in the quote... I purchased a V-M from that Netherlands vendor, and I want to know what can I expect. You saw the list of synths I mentioned I'd like to see working on V-M, and by checking the wizard files list, I noticed some of them are supposed to be working.
Will Korg Legacy Collections (Analog and Digital) work? I have non-Synchrosoft version (so, it uses challenge-response). This one is almost the most important to me.
About the Synth1 patches... They are not really MINE - it's just a compilation of freely online available Synth1 banks, sorted out to make some sense. It is still a work in progress. But yeah, I don't mind using it - still, it's better to try to contact bank makers for each individual bank, just to make sure!

1. When will be the V-rack available?
2. When will the CPU upgrade be available for all customers who got an unfinished product and are still waiting to be able to layer a piano with an organ sound?
3. When will the VFX software become a finished product and not BETA
4. When will the vmachine respond to midi clock
5. When will you be honest to your customers about release dates?

I really hope when the V-rack is released all problems are solved. It should have enough power and quality noise free audio outputs with stable and user friendly software. The Vmachines have the potential to become the next generation of "synths".

i have no clue, dont work for sm pro, dont work for anyone connected to vmachine im just a musician. i dont even own one but im thinking about getting one, as it is now.
heres what i think:

what i was hoping for was a price reduction, perhaps due to people whining, that i could exploit cause i know ill be happy with it cause id have no problem thinking of it as what it is and using it that way.

Most SSD sold in shops and even more so low priced flash can not sustain more than 100mb per second, the key here is SUSTAINED transfers. You would get zero performance increase in using sata over the ata133 connection which is used simply because no common drives can sustain data rates above IDE bandwidth! 1. Cheaper flash drives use ide.
2. 44pin ide carries the power so only 1 cable is needed. Sata needs two cables.
3. Sata would give zero performance increases in real world situations.
4. Even a USB memory stick is fast enough. I am yet to find a plugin which will not run off a $6 usb memory stick.

Ah it's amazing to read this post 1 year later. IDE interfaces are practically not used anymore, SSDs are giving far more performance than you could've ever imagined, needing SATA 3.0 for the best drives, which can have sustained transfer rates far greater than 100 MB/s, hell, they're even close to and over 300 MB/s.
This is exactly why I said that using IDE in V-M was a mistake, even at that time. SMPro Audio wasn't really expecting this, I guess.
AND STILL NOT A SINGLE WORD ABOUT A CPU UPGRADE?!?!?!
I'll still try to run some older but great VSTi's with it, like Synth1 and the likes. Elektrostudio synths are also nice and easy on CPU.
DOES KORG LEGACY COLLECTION (NON-SYNCHROSOFT) WORK ON V-M???

OK, so it arrived. After an hour of reading the manual, I felt prepared to install some plugins on my V-Machine. Amazingly enough, after updating the wizard library, most of the plugins I wanted to load in my V-Machine worked right away. Even KLCD. But later on I have noticed that when syncing with the V-Machine, it would freeze. The cause is a popup created by Korg's plugins which doesn't want to close. Nonetheless, plugins themselves WORK (except LegacyCell and Mono/Poly, couldn't find wizards for those).
All in all, my first reactions are very positive. Seems like SM Pro Audio listened to their user base and made working with this thing easier.
Sadly, the latest version of Synth1 doesn't load all banks, it loads only one preset in the bank, and we can't switch them. I hope something can be done with regards to this. Also, I have tried creating two VFX presets using different Synth1 patches, but VFX application froze in that case. I dunno what to think of that. Perhaps the wizard should copy the Patches folder to the V-Machine to make it work?
I'd also like Oatmeal wizard, I can't find it.
