How can you fix something that isn't broken to begin with ? FLStudio does it the way everybody does it,so what's to fix ? If people don't know how to adjust the volume on their tracks maybe music isn't for them.
The output of FL have in all tests less volume. Most of the people perceive loudness as a better sound quality, so, for a short while even more experienced musicians can be like "wow... I knew it was something wrong".
Why not to put a normalizing option then and get rid of at least this problem ?>
Why ? Is it really that hard pushing a fader maybe producing isn't for you.
I really don't see the problem. And what is so hard about normalizing manually ?
Not that you'd ever need to but if you wanted to. It's just you who tries to blame your own ineptitude on the developers,must be their fault 'cause your infallible,right ? Played with all fancy orchestras and what nots.

And if the experienced musician isn't aware of that louder sounds better maybe he isn't so experienced after all,at least not in things that matter on this subject.

Btw, the bass and piano vsts in the test arent entirely sample based, so can be producing randoness, causing the parts that dont cancel in the test.

Original string excitation is sampled, and then sound is modeled

Glue Reeds uses reactive synthesis which emulates each part of the sound generating

muted trumpet, not sax :D

Doh! Thanks :)

Post

For the muted trumpet, you need to increase the level of the FL sampler by about 4.7 dB to match the level of the MuLab sampler.

For Addictive drums you need to turn off the reverb which can be random and increase its level in FL by about 2.2 dB.

Tho even then you get some kind of intermitent bleed, but not all the time.

Im going to repeat this test with more reliable VST's when I get time. I will also include Reaper and Live.

1 - I wasn't referring at myself, I was referring on new users or people who try a DAW for the first time. This thread and all similar over internet prove that this is a issue for more people.

2 - Thank you for keeping insulting me instead of discussing the issues. That proves who and how you are.

3 - If music producing is not for me then why I got signed to a record label with my jazz album, produced by me ? why a track produced by me got on 9th place on Lithuanian Eurovision finals ? Why songs produced by me goes on radio and tv ? how do you think I make a living in a country which language I don't really speak ?
Answer is - because my own ineptitude.

edited, 11 not 9... well, not really best shot anyway :lol:
edited again, participating as no11, getting on 9th place... memory, not my best feature.

Thanks for your work.
Hope we'll get to the bottom of this. After all the tests will be done 100% correctly and error proof, we should make a thread "MYTH BUSTED" :lol:

+1
thumbs up for nucleon!

You know this picture is utterly wrong.

It's not possible to normalize the output of a VST.
And then I don't get your point. You have full control over the volume. You set it up the way you want it. FLStudio has not "less volume" than any other sequencer. They all do just what their users set it to.

No, it proves, people like to see problems, where are none. Usually they do, because they need something to blame for their own mistakes.
Can't get the mix right? Well, must be the tool I'm using.

This is getting silly for the 1000th time.

@Nokenoku

I wasn't talking about normalizing the output of a vst.
In all my tests, the output of other program (in this case Mu.Lab) is slightly higher. This is not clearly a user option.
When all the faders are to 0db and there is volume difference, something is just weird. Do you think that is a good thing to have a project in FL with aprox. -1.8 compared to same project rendered in other DAW ?

Probably this is one of the reasons that so many people believe that FL have a less efficient audio engine.
A normalizing option will shut at least those for whom "louder = better" is still working (I would say at least 70%).

The problem with this is that a user may not want the same output level as you, mastering requires different levels so fixing the ouput level dosnt make sense.

I can see it now, FL will ship with Soundgoodizer defaulted on the master channel.

They could advertise it: FL 10 now 70% better!

Great, another genius !
Normalized =/= compressed or limited

But I see what's going on. Instead of taking a look on my tests, instead of trying to see the problem and keep things on the constructive way it's easier to:
-insult the guy with a different opinion
-make fun of the thread
-troll posting

At least I know I was running some tests to see and some of my results were showing that I wasn't making up stuff. There was a difference on rendering same file through different DAWs.
Well, the difference wasn't what I originally believed it was, but it was a difference.

Thanks Tony/Gol and Nucleon for your work and for taking time to run all those tests and share the results.
Thanks Tony/Gol for your patience with me and other users who are less informed into those matters.

I'm tired of people throwing stones just because I have a different opinion.
I'm curios, those people who kept insulting me, what were doing for the music community ? I know I was doing something...

normalize != sound quality

louder != better

forgive the jokes, it's just many people have seen this play out exactly the same many times over. It's kind of a way to just deal with it and not think "here we go again"
