One thing I'd love to see is a mode for the noise-module that emulates what Majken's Chimera does. It uses bandpassed white noise for its oscillators, but I can never emulate the sounds it makes in Zebra.

Any tips are very welcome, but nevertheless it's still something I'd like to see in Zebra, as it's a sound I quite love, and I'm most comfortable working with Zebra.
edit: another synth that uses the same technique can be found here: http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_chall ... .php#dc074

Here's a bit of an oddball request.
Could it be possible to "link" the geo and spectro wave types together so that changes on one would turn into changes for the other?
For example, let's say I draw in a square wave in slot 1 of osc1 with geomorph mode. Then I click on the "link" button and swtich to spectromorph mode. Now I can see the traditional harmonic series of odd harmonics dropping down 1/n in amplitude. Then, as I change or add in a few harmonics I flip back to geomorph mode and can see how that changed the resulting wave.
Or maybe I'm just thinking crazy thoughts today.

Hehe, there's a problem though:
Spectroblend has 128 harmonic amplitudes at static phase. This generates a waveform of 256 samples length. GeoBlend has only 128 samples, but the resulting spectrum can have any phase and magnitude for its 64 harmonics. Thus the two are not interchangable. Unfortunately.
I could however add an option to do a forward/backward Fourier Transform in each, but that would always imply a bit of a loss (phase information in Geoblend, upper 64 harmonics in Spectroblend). I'm just afraid of the emails I would be getting

You can't create symlinks to the Zebra2 directory as this currently crashes Zebra2. However, if you make the u-he directory (up one level) a symlink, everything works fine.Urs wrote:Not yet... gotta ask my external dev who does the file handling if he ever managed to get the shortcut/alias/symlink follow baked...tinkerpixel wrote:Side note...is there a way to move my u he preset library Zebra/Uhbik/MFM2 to another location. Just the presets(h2p) not the skins etc..... I'd like to move them to another location. Is there a global text file I could edit? maybe registry (I'm not sure if zebra even writes to the registry) or could I use shortcuts?
I just figured this out in order to be able to use Dropbox to sync my presets between my laptop and main machine.

Improvements?
If Zebra stayed exactly the way it was right now I wouldn't complain, it's a beautiful piece of work.
But improvements is the thread title, so...
Hmm...
O.k, I've mentioned this before; I can get extraordinary morphed and very interesting sounds just by grabbing one of the breakpoints in a standard saw waveform (in the default waveform view) and moving it vertìcally and horizontally by small amounts.
Try it, it sounds great.
Whenever I do this, I wish that there was some way to assign an X/Y controller or other modulators to it.
Cheers,
bagginz

You can. It's called wave morphing.bagginz wrote: Whenever I do this, I wish that there was some way to assign an X/Y controller or other modulators to it.

You can make a 16 stage wave morph, then just modulate the "wave" knob...top left on the oscillator. That's morphing...unless I'm misunderstanding your post which is possible.
You can assign the wave stages to the XY pad. Just select "wave" as the XY source. Sometimes making your initial wave as the 8th slot, and center it, in the XY slot, will give you a full left and right XorY movement to use, might work better.
No improvement necessary there.

Yes, the wave morphing's great in Zebra.mcnoone wrote: You can. It's called wave morphing.
I suppose I could use that for something similar.
But what I really want to do is assign a midi controller to the node and control it directly: i.e move it around in real time with physical knobs via midi so I can record the result.
Strikes me being able to assign the node to an X/Y pad in Zebra would do the trick nicely

Yea that'll do. As for the midi control, just make some wave pattern morph and you could just assign the wave knob to a controller knob also.bagginz wrote:

As for wave node assignments, sounds like an interesting idea, that I bet would be difficult to implement. Makes me wonder how far ideas could go with adding more wave control options, besides that one.

Hi
One addition I would like to see in Zebra is a 24db version of the 12db filter.
I dont know what the 12db filter does that is any different to the rest but I love the sound of it. I know there are already loads of other 24db filters to choose from but they seem to colour or excite or do some stuff to the sound which isnt always desired.
Maybe I'm just talking out of my arse but the 12db filter sounds (to me at least!) like a normal filter.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that yes it's brilliant that there are loads of really cool filters that make all manner of brilliant sounds possible and I couldnt do without them in Zebra but sometimes all I want is a "normal" 24db filter!!

thanks i'll give them both a go!

This is a question but depending on the answer it may be a request. Is there a way to save arp pattern presets? For example if I create a particular pattern but want to use it to audition other sounds I do not want to have to recreate it every time. It is a bit tedious.
If this has been covered before I apologize.

...but I believe there may be a save arp feature in the future for Zebra, but don't quote me on that.
ie; I read something about that before, but it's vague atm.
