Guitar & Zebrify questions

Just gave a try to Zebrify yesterday (better later than never) and thanks to 3AmNoise Patch I was enlightened. My guitar almost transformed into a synth! I have some question so far:
1. Is using a XMF and an sidechained oscillator the only way get Guitar Synth like sounds from Zebrify?
2. Do I have to mute (Volume to zero) the column with the oscillator or there's another way to avoid the continuous sound it makes?
3. Zebrify converts my guitar input to MIDI as it looks from the virtual keyboard.
Is there any way to have the MIDI note/velocity routed externally to drive a Zebra2 patch?
If not, that would be very desired!

To question 2.
You can just click the small square button (it will turn red) to mute that column. It's at the bottom of the column. As long as you have that oscillators sound routed to the other column, where the filter is you will still have the sound of the osc going through it.
If you don't want the oscillator sound in the mix at all, just click on it to turn it off. Then save. Then only the filter will be used.
Question 1. I'm sure other ways exist. There's always other ways to ptoduce similar results in Zebra, and Zebrify.
Question3. Don't know.

I don't know if you can route it EXTERNALLY, but you can turn zebrify into an actual synth which is controlled by pitch by dropping in some oscillators and controlling them with the source pitch modulator.

Good. Can you explain? My take is that I get an oscillator and then I modulate tone using pitch modulator am I right? Will using the Pitch Modulator stop the oscillator making sounds as well?MitchK1989 wrote:I don't know if you can route it EXTERNALLY, but you can turn zebrify into an actual synth which is controlled by pitch by dropping in some oscillators and controlling them with the source pitch modulator.

Well...which Metheny sound. He used 2 main sounds often enough.pasha811 wrote:What suggestions for Metheney like patch?
One sound was a more classic style jazz clean sound, and the other, was a synth-sax-flugel horn sound, for many a solo.

Apply the Volume of the Lane carrying the Oscillator to an envelope and adjust the release setting for it, that way you don't have to mute the Lane with the red button.

The sax-flugel one.mcnoone wrote:Well...which Metheny sound. He used 2 main sounds often enough.pasha811 wrote:What suggestions for Metheney like patch?

I'll give it a try. If I get any kind of success, I'll post it and notify you.pasha811 wrote: The sax-flugel one.

I really don't have much time logged with using Zebrify, but it might be a good challenge to try, and I'm a Metheny fan, and guitar player, so I'll give it a go.

Thank you for your time and patience. In the meantime I have done some progresses. Where I can share with you some patches? I'm still scratching my head about the Pitch Tracking, Pichness, Transient modulator and the way XMF works but sound quality is improving. However it seems that Env attack does nothing and Combo filter doesn't add anything but with a trial & error process I'll be there. Reason is probably that I lack the advanced synthesis basics (I have got some experience only in subtractive syntheses).mcnoone wrote:I'll give it a try. The envelope attack should work, but you may need to fine tune some things like attenuation (don't even know what that means, i just know it makes something more sensitive, or something).pasha811 wrote: Thank you for your time and patience. Also don't forget the threshold slider a little bit higher up. I was using the follower for ages before i even realised i could move that slider.
For the comb filter, turn the 'input' control to max (it's often silent at it's default setting), and give at least 10 - 15 on the feedback. You should hear some effect then, hopefully.

Thanks AL321 I have tried your suggestions successfully. AT least LFO's are running wild!!!
Envelop for swelling effect is still a problem but I'm working on it.
