I can't use about 1/2 of the presets in the Ambiance Bank, because they're popping, or have a rough volume spike about 6 seconds after hitting a chord.
It's just terrible.
While this crap is going on, there is absolutely no spiking or noticeable rise on Receptor's (GUI) CPU.

I see there's a 1.7 installer available on Plugorama, but I think it's for new owners...

Any ideas here?

I just tried some patches from my Ivory 1.6x (Ambiance Bank) on my Receptor 2 Pro. I did not have any problems as you described. I did notice some patches had very low volume compared to others. Sorry - probably not very helpful. Good luck.

Is the 1.7 installer strictly for new installations?

Ivory 1.7 does only work on Receptor 2's. I would have to do some tests on a Rev C to see if I could recreate the problem. If you could, it would help if you open a help desk ticket for this issue. For now try messing with the buffer size. See if that helps.

I am on Receptor 2.
Is there a fee for updating to 1.7
Is the 1.7 Installer for updates as well?

There is no fee for the Ivory 1.7 update. However, one of the big changes implemented in that update (for synthogy) was the switch from using challenge and response to using an iLok license. If you already have an iLok you use with Receptor you can just put the Ivory license on there, otherwise, you will have to s pend money on an iLok key.
