What if the Dalai Lama applied for a free Zebra licence to produce some drones for his new OHM-CD? Would you endorse him? Imagine the marketing impact it would have if in his endorsement agreement he would be obliged to mention Zebra in every sentence of every lecture and interview he gives? Then the chinese leader Wen Jiabao would want a licence as well, the chinese market would be yours because in his agreement there would be a clause that obliges the Republic of China to officially buy 50.000000 full licences for all the pianists in China in order to modernize the country a little bit more.
Free Tibet - free Zebra!
Then you could try to talk Putin into an endorsement deal for Uhbik and Sarah Palin would fit for Zebralette, with a nice little Zebralette™ sticker on her forehead - man the possibilities are endless...

Mr. Zimmer and his pals actually have a work ethic, therefore they understand good hard work when they hear it.Urs wrote: Thankfully there are other ones. One famous person who would actually deserve a ton of free copies is Hans Zimmer. He and his colleagues however are the ones who bought like tens of licenses, without ever blinking. And still I get credits on CD booklets, invitations to press screenings and even, uhm, even vintage synthesizers.
In fact, it's rather him endorsing me. Which is good. And more famous & successful people should IMHO endorse the developers behind their favourite tools.

I must say that it's beyond me that some (most?) artists would not mention a product in a interview because they really like it and use but simply because they are under a contract.
If I ever got interviewed (not likely to happen, though) I would speak about the stuff I love because I think the developers deserve the good publicity for their outstanding work.
By getting Zebra2 at that price, I already feels Urs is doing us all a favor. He's making one of the most versatile and best-sounding synths at the hobbyist musician's reach.

Don't you know it. We're a fortunate generation of musicians.Karten wrote: By getting Zebra2 at that price, I already feels Urs is doing us all a favor. He's making one of the most versatile and best-sounding synths at the hobbyist musician's reach.

Give us a hall of shame, Urs!
Chris from Analog Industries had an open letter to Jason Nevins (who also tried to score some free soft from AD) online some time ago...

How about a page for "I'm famous and I paid for Zebra". The artist has their ego massaged by appearing on your site, and you get the cash AND the endorsement. Win / Win / Win
Peace,
Andy.

Urs, I am not sure if you're doing the right things here.
Imho you should rather give out free NFRs to famous artists than sell you're plugins to poor and unknown people like me who then start to damage your reputation by producing weird tracks and terrible sounds and spreading these over the webs
Think abut a catalogue of preconditions that a buyer must fulfil before he is allowed to spend his money

Urs, I can see a problem with some of your qualifiers. Suppose one person, sitting alone in a cavern-like den of creative gear in some fifth-floor walk-up urban loft, creates false names and endorses his or her own music using those sock puppets? Makes fake accounts on social media systems to create artificial buzz? Inflates his or her cultural impact to the point that magazines run features?
In other words, have you looked into the possibility of aliasing in the high art-caves?
[I know, I should've posted this in the DSP (Dumb Sunday Pranks) forum. Maybe a mod will split it to a new thread there.]
