Indeed, very nice entries this time.Cubensick wrote:Whoa.. i gave a quick listen to tracks submitted, and seems that this synth has attracted a lot of good composers.. Overall quality of tracks is very high this time around!
I'm gonna struggle to make the deadline, but will try. As usual I got off to a nice start and then got bogged down with a new synth that I had to explore (String Studio)..

Hm, I'm having a weird problem with the new 2.10 version that the graphics will freeze completely every 2 seconds no matter if Reaper is playing or not which makes editing impossible. Not only will mouse and all freeze, normal zoom or scroll will not work as I guess the modifier keys will be blocked by the freezes.
I found version 1.08 on TAL's site and with that the freezes are gone, but then all the sounds are messed up. I guess I must have made them with 2.00 but can't find it anywhere. Can someone send me a copy?
I will report this bug in the proper thread.

I haven't downloaded the new version cause I was worried it would confuse my creative flow and make me want to change everything that worked (or not, make up your own mind;)) Maybe email the dev.?

Yea should know better than to switch versions in the middle of a project..
But do you or anyone have version 2.00 I could get?

Cheers for the tracks guys!
Xenox.AFL .... win or lose, you win for me in that your approach is very much what OSC is about! ... even an extreme/pure form which intrigues me
... cant wait to listen to the original 'one-preset-challenge' ... Would love to run a comp in this vein ... I doubt if many would enter though ... so good on ya for havin a go at those darned limitations.
capdanX ... similarly, this is what we want!! .... it's not Eurovision, it's about taking a synth to places it has not boldly gone before!
hope you have had fun, cos you have not failed!! ... I want to award you some points ... and I haven't listened to your track yet!
kx.001 ... great to hear you've finished a track! ... again this is what OSC is about .... only a tiny minority of us will ever produce a commercial smash hit .... in the meantime, we have to keep the flow going, get that beginning-middle-end thing nailed, and enjoy creating music and learning from each other.
Cheers for being honest about the fx you used .. but looking at what you used, I leave it to the voters to decide whether you gained any advantage.
Olikana, 2 mins is a triumph! When I get beyond 1.30 mins, I often breathe a sigh of relief in that I can repeat the whole lot in a slightly different order, add 2 bars of a finish and job done
Cubensick ... 25 instances?? of a polysynth?? even Earth Wind and Fire would need extra members to match that!
Gegech, welcome to OSC .... I'm sure your not the first to use heavy medication to get the juices flowing
... look forward to hearing your drug addled contribution
Hello again Yeager ... top 3 again yeah? Go get some maracas and learn a real instrument
.... Anyway, got mine mixed, and just about to upload
... excellent number of entries!! .... As usual I have not listened to any yet .... prefer to take the whole lot in after closure of submissions, but really excited about the positive comments from others !!
Details of my track ......
Daily Deadline - tattiemannie
Sounds: 14x Tal Noisemaker 1.06
Fx: 5x mda Dynamics, 1x Room machine, 1x mda Delay
No automation.

I submitted to the months challenge.
I don't know how many of what that I used. I just don't work that way. But I can say definitively that in addition to TAL NoiseMaker I used only:
Christian Budde's Dual Linkwitz-Riley Filters
Overtone GEQ
Blockfish
BuzMaxi3
TAL Reverb
Good Fun. The filters on this synth are awesome.

I submitted my first ever entry. Noizemakin'
It's nothing special but it was fun to play around with a synth that I might not give very much attention to.
I used:
10 instances of Noisemaker
Built-in Live EQ
1 instance of EpicVerb
1 instance of BootEQmkII
It's a little bit boomy but it seemed pleasant enough to submit. Overall this is a great little synth and I like hearing what it can do(thanks to all the other contestants who used it well). Great contest. Thx

Corrrrrrrr! and as my uncle from Liverpool used to say "Wow's Eggs!" 24 submissions. And here was me hoping and praying that the usual heroes would accidentally miss out and I'd get a place so I could brag and swank my way around. How cool is that!!!?
That's it! I've downloaded all my tracks and I'm going for a bike ride around the river until all tracks have finished playing on the Nano.
Excellent work my friends. And how cool to see someone's very first electronic track ever! Very pleased to be a part of this. We should make sure all the synthmakers know we're using their synth.
By the way. For OSC21, Chimera issue can be fixed by copying the VST as many times as you have tracks and using each unique copy in the host.

Well, its most because of laziness.. quite few of them are just a bits of fx playing once or twice in the song..tattiemannie wrote:Cheers for the tracks guys!

cubensick is SICK!
anwyay i uploaded my 30 seconds effort lol....didn't have much time so i recycled the composition i made for the SQ8L OSC and replaced the sounds with noisemaker.
all sounds from scratch...took me a few hours...most effort went on makin a decent punchy efunk bass (not easy with VA/softsynths cos of "filter feedback lag").
7 instances of NoiseMaker synth
1 KarmaFX delay
1EQ10
1BugPass
1Buzzmaxi3
host : energyxt2.5.4
edit : removed my track from OSC. wasn't happy with it enough to share it
