OP-X Pro II is out !!!

I've just found that OP-X Pro II is out now, and I was wondering a Receptorized version of it was planned soon.
I can see there is an upgrade offer on the Sonic Projects website for OP-X Pro owners, and it's a bargain.
It looks and sounds great, I really would like to have it on my Receptor!

A link to the Receptor information is in one of the two threads posted about it. If I remember the next time I'm in one, I'll repost it here :)

Hi everyone,

I've installed and authorized the OPX-Pro II as a standard unsupported plug.

Peter has published my installation notes up on the sonic projects site:

http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/musereceptor.html

Pro II sounds great and works rather well on Receptor II (I'm using a Pro Max, it may be more 'CPU spikey' on lesser configurations). Peter has also put alot of effort into reworking his patch library. I'm quite impressed with how authentic the 'famous' patches sound.

True !!
Love it

I'm still with Receptor Rev.C ... and yes... having a multi incl. OP-X II can be "too much" for the CPU... ;)

TOTAL no-brainer if you already have the 'original' PRO version! :tu:

$35.00 upgrade fee until the end of the year! WOW....

Not only that: Peter and company are REALLY nice guys; and that they *do* do their homework! Their emulations of the Oberheim OB-X and derivatives are some of the absolute best work done to date in the 'software-imitates-hardware' business (I frequently used to spend hours playing with the OB-XA, the 'SX, and the FVS-1 4-voice when they were current models for sale in Guitar Center...I can also tell you that an OB-XA run through a Roland Space Echo could produce astonishing noise.)

Anyway: I just bought the PRO-II, and it's quality is like every other product that Sonic Projects has in their catalog: Superb!

At the bottom of the page, there are 125+ audio examples....

Thanks for your valuable help on installing OP-X Pro II. Just one more question: do you still have the OP-X Pro version installed on the same Receptor? The guy from Sonic Projects told me that both plugins shared the same unique ID, which might cause trouble...

Can anyone say someting on this? Is it working with both versions, or should we uninstall the OP-X Pro v1 first?

Also, I'm a Rev.C owner, and have absolutely no will to upgrade to Receptor 2. Does OP-X Pro II run on a Rev.C version?

Thanks in advance for your help

I got the same message from Peter today as well. I just tried doing this today and I have been thus far unsuccessful installing OP-X Pro II on my Receptor that already has Pro I installed.

I'm REALLY praying I don't have to uninstall OP-X Pro because I would lose a ton of custom patches / banks that ive created. Im not sure if there is a way to transfer patch settings from Pro I to Pro II in a Multi/Single setup but that would be wonderful if I could.

If anyone has had any success running Pro I and Pro II on the same Receptor, please let me know.

thanks

ok....after 9 long hours i give up.

Ive tried uninstalling Pro I crossgraded version and installing Pro II in its place, rebooting etc. All that happens is Pro I GUI reappears as before.

Next I tried renaming Pro II .dll file as Pro I .dll file to "fool" the machine into thinking its using Pro I when its really using Pro II.

This was able to bring up the ProII GUI successfully, but only in demo mode and it seemed quite unstable, no sound, etc....perhaps because it was trying to access my Pro I patches (name was displayed in new GUI)

...or maybe its the 'unique ID' situation...

Ive tried doing the above steps manually also (copying, pasting within the drive) rebooting between each change. I was even able to crash my Receptor for the 1st time (yay!) it went into something called 'recovery mode' LOL luckily, its such a stable machine I just uninstalled, reboted again and the problem went away (whew!!)

Right now, everything is back to normal using Pro I.

I'd love to be able to have both Pro I and II available on my Receptor but if I have to replace Pro I that's OK; I wish I could save my multi/single setups that ive spent days creating.

Hi Everyone,

I should mention a few things:

1.) when I installed Pro II, I ran a "refresh plugins" cycle on the receptor (this is run from the Setup page, under a tools menu I believe). This detected Pro/Pro II as the same plugin, and asked which version to use. I didn't try to keep both versions installed at the same time, I simply run Pro II as the only version now - so this is what I specified during the "refresh plugins".

2.) regarding authorizations - if you install the OPX Pro II commercial version (eg PC) on your receptor, it will try to use the PCs authorization scheme (and not your iLok auth, from the Receptorized versions). This shouldn't be a problem, simply enter the Auth code you were given for PC installation into the Auth dialog (Blue box over the interface when you first instantiate OPX pro).

3.) Previous Banks/Presets - as mentioned above, the new version *IS* the same plugin as the old one. Once you get the new plugin going, it will use exactly the same receptorized Banks/Patches that were previously stored for OPX Pro. Any custom banks will still appear (and load fine in OPX Pro II). As always, practice some caution and 'back up' custom banks/patches to be safe.

Hope this helps. Regards,
Kevin L

Thanks Kevin. we've updated it on our page.

Still one important note/warning:
OP-X PRO-II can load all former OP-X PRO patches and banks, that's right. But once loaded and saved again with OP-X PRO-II you can't load them anymore with the standard OP-X PRO. So make a backup copy of all important sounds before you install and use OP-X PRO-II.

Quoting myself...

Has anyone installed it on a Rev. C Receptor? How well is it running?

Thanks in advance

Didn't Robert K. already describe that he had it working on a Rev C (with so-so results):

Like someone else said, did you refresh the plugins? That's pretty standard when installing something new on receptor!

I installed it without any problems, I really like the new presets! The effects give the instrument so much depth, it's incredible!

A valuable update, Good job Peter!
