Ha! Actually, there was no mention of this being user installable on any receptor. I simply stumbled across running the installer directly.

The last .mrpk installer for the Receptor 1 was for Pianoteq 2.5, and Muse stated that "you need a Receptor 2 to run Pianoteq 3". I have proven that this is indeed not true. The Receptor 2 with OS 1.8 probably has a more compatible environment for doing a direct install, and that is why there is some trouble getting it to work on a Receptor 1.

I just checked at Plugorama, and the only official installer for Pianoteq 3 (3.0.5) is for the Receptor 2 with OS 1.8. Muse changed the directory structure with the release of the Receptor 2, so there is no way that the Pianoteq 3 installer would work on a Receptor 1 (I tried!).

By the way, I was running installers this way with my Receptor 1 - so, maybe someone can give that a try on their Receptor 1.

[sigh] Yes...that is how this all started. I tried that almost a year ago now, and it failed. The only way to get Pianoteq 3 working on a Receptor 1 is the hard way...which is documented in this thread. And the reason there is a bit of angst regarding this is because Muse could have made it easier for Receptor 1 owners.

I checked the Pianoteq options, and multicore rendering is selected. On the Receptor Setup page, Multi-core rendering is turned off.


I then switched on Receptors multi-core setting, and played a bit. It seemed stable. I checked Pianoteq's performance index, and this time it read 50. I instantiated OP-X on the same MIDI channel, and played with this a bit more - again, completely stable.

Pianoteq thinks you have a quad-core now

I wish it were that easy to add two more cores...

Actually, I thought I read somewhere that Intel was going to start doing something like that...include a dozen or so cores, and you license what you need on-the-fly.

Phil and/or Kevin,
Are you simply using the the Pianoteq 32 bit (or 64 bit) Windows .exe and dropping it in the place installers here folder on the Receptor hard drive and then directing it (upon install) to the folders as described in earlier posts? I'd like to try this as well. And thanks to all BTW for the posts on this.

Yes, just put the 32 bit .exe in the unsupported installers list. In my case I put the program files in a subfolder called piantoteq36 inside a Moddart folder that had the earlier versions.
I also copied the custom info xml file over from the the 3.0 file to the 2.6 file as well. Don't know if that is necessary or not.
After installing I ran the plugin refresh utility and it gave me the option of choosing the new .dll

Update: Installed it (Pianoteq 3.64) last night on my Receptor 2 Pro, works great. Again my thanks to all on this thread.
