Hi all,

Zebra lover here but not a pro and I'm having difficulty reproducing this sound in Zebra . I am getting close using formant filters and some sync in the osc and an LPAllaround filter with lots of drive and high keyscaling but thought I would pose the challenge here to all the Zebra pros.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated and the patch would be even more loved.

Thank you in advanced and here is the song/sound that happens at periods all thru the song but 1st appears at 1:24sec.

It is the searing lead/bass sound.

Sebastien Tellier - Kilometer (Aeroplane Italo 84 Remix)

Thank you all again. :help: :help:

Not 100%, but a step in the right direction:

http://www.u-he.com/zebra/patches/UH_Di ... c_Bass.h2p

Osc1 with a Sync sound
Osc2 12 semitones down with sqare wave as suboscillator
a bit of noise
a fairly driven XMF

I guess the Sync should use a square, dunno.

Hi Urs,

Thank you so much for the speedy reply. Amazing.

How do I get that patch into my presets folder? When I press the link it takes me to a page with loads of text and binary. Sorry if I am being stupid.

Thanks again.

Thanks again.
Just select all, then copy and paste into your notebook software.
Save as (name.h2p)
Then put it into your Zebra presets folder.

I find the formant filter finicky to control and too prone to drastic volume changes so for monophonic sounds, I prefer to use an EQ and make node 2 and 3 narrow Q and +6to+12 or so gain and then modulate the frequency in the modmatrix... with an env or the modwheel depending on whether I want to play the 'vocal' sound manually. You can also set up both nodes with keyscaling as well... so 4 mod slots altogether. Takes a moment to set up, but once done, it is easier to tweak... at least for me.

Anyway, if you don't feel like you are getting that vocal-ish sound, you can try this method rather than the formant filter. I find it clearer and more distinct for the type of sound you are doing...

Thank you Thank you.

Got it working and am now honing in on the sound I want.

Nice idea! I tried it and it sounds really great.

Here is the patch I came up with if anybody is interested: http://bit.ly/SingingEQ
Use the modwheel to morph between the vowels.

Another method is to use a XMF set to parallel mode (2x BP2 works best) with a high resonance setting. Just play a little bit with the cutoff frequency and the filteroffset.

Cheers

chuna, You should actually be able to right click the link, then just choose the save option from the window.
If you just click the links, they open as script.

Thanks Urs & Bronto Scorpio for those presets. :)

mcnoon - cheers - much quicker.

And thank you both for putting up those patches. Different methods for getting this sound has enabled me to learn more about Zebra.

Nice.
