Same URL... but I replaced the first sound with a new one that shows the PhaseDist OscFX in the sound more clearly... less effects and took the filter off...VitaminD wrote:cool.pdxindy wrote:In keeping with my love of plucked strings... my first try with the new PhaseDist OscFX resulted in this sound:

Add a bit of time stretching, EQ and reverb and you got a nice ambient track

heh... that is cool... slowing it down shows the nice character of the PhaseDist OscFX in the attack...Bronto Scorpio wrote:Really, really nice!pdxindy wrote:Same URL... but I replaced the first sound with a new one that shows the PhaseDist OscFX in the sound more clearly... less effects and took the filter off...VitaminD wrote:cool.pdxindy wrote:In keeping with my love of plucked strings... my first try with the new PhaseDist OscFX resulted in this sound:

Here's a fun time: Put PhaseDist in the 2nd FX slot, and use the first effect to alter the waveform which is being used to control the wave scan. Listen and watch the resulting waveforms with an oscilloscope. It's a hoot!
Feeding PD into PD, playing with the PD amounts and/or using an additive waveform and doodling harmonics in and out with the mouse is also fun.
No, I'm not writing music (though I did last night), but I think interacting with sound on this level is just as important.

Okay... I am loving the CZ OscFX. It makes amazing pads that shimmer and shine... fine strings...plucks... what sweet highs it has! and the way you can get a lovely noise that ebbs and flows... wow! Now I see why Urs made a whole thread just for this.

Decided to do a quick rough'n'ready recording of some of my Zebra 'snapshots' being messed with. I haven't finished and polished any of these sounds, they're just ballpark ideas I've saved off recently. All very simple with 2 to 4 modules, hardly any to no FX, etc.
A couple of these make use of the PD effect in the second slot whilst the first effect makes sushi out of the wavetable

BTW, feel free to have a listen to some of my music, I've never introduced it to KVR yet, and feel free to contact/add me on Soundcloud.

I had to log in to Soundcloud for it to come up.
Awesome sounds. I'm going to have to stop working
so hard and make some time to experiment with the
new Zebra capabilities! Thanks also for requesting
the Wrap function back on another thread. I'm glad
you did and Urs was receptive to implementing it.
Cheers,
Scott

No problem! I've always wanted a synth that did wave wrapping, I specifically bought a 2nd hand JP-8000 beucase of the triangle-wrap waveform (and it's other oscillators are very unique too) only to find their implimentation of wrapping only moves the waveform a fraction of a full wrap (despite the big deal the brocure made about being able to 'tailor the harmonic content by specifying the offset of the waveform' - talk about a letdown!). The MicroKorg XL features what it calls a sort of 'multi-sawtooth waveshaping' which allows you to wrap a wave from 0 to about 3.5 times if you set it up a certain way, which is awesome, but it aliases around middle C and up, as do most other waveshaping implimentations I've heard. Exception would be Helix beta, but that only lets you wrap 0.5 times... So now Zebra is the first synth to flawlessly impliment this effect, and Zebra NEVER aliases (unless you tell it torexlapin wrote:I had to log in to Soundcloud for it to come up.

@ pdxindy: Sorry, I thought everyone could access Soundcloud? Maybe it was a glitch or something?
As people liked my demo I'll post some more later... I always feel like a bit of a noob with Zebra because I'm used to pushing the limits of a fixed routing synth, but I'm finding if you keep things simple in Zeb you can still get amazing results (I haven't even studied into the MSEGs, sideband modules, and a bunch of other stuff...)
