Trying to get my head around a couple of issues with Sylenth1:

1. Assuming I am using only oscillator bank A and filter A. Why does adjusting the filter, resonance of the global setting impact the sound when only filter A is being used. Struggling to understand how to use 2 filter settings (2 cutoff and 2 resonance knobs for a single filter in effect).

2. Is it possible to make the filter self resonate only producing a sine wave and cutting out oscillators A and B?

The manual is pretty basic and doesn't answer these questions for mine. Thanks in advance.

I'm just going to copy/paste from the manual, I'm really not sure how this could be explained any better:

1. The Filter Control Panel
The filter control panel contains controls that apply to both filters from Part A and B simultaneously. Note that this panel does not contain an individual filter; it merely controls the filters A and B.

Cutoff and Resonance
With the Cutoff knob you can change the cutoff frequency from both filters A
and B. This is useful, because it allows you to control the timbre of the sound created by the filters using a single knob. In a similar fashion the Resonance knob controls the resonance of both filters.

2. Setting the resonance to a very high level makes the filter self-oscillate,
which means that it generates a tone all by itself.

If the filter is put into self-oscillation, setting the Keytrack knob to 10 makes it possible to play the filter like a piano.

Make sure you set the Drive knob to 0 btw.

Thanks. I guess where I was a bit confused is that setting resonance on filter A to its maximum setting isn't really its maximum setting if the global setting isn't also it's maximum.

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious... but that's what has confused me a little.
