Urs, thank you for the roadmap - very much appreciated! :-)

You once hinted on dynamics plugins either separate or as a part of Uhbik - is that still on the plate or rather unprobable within the next years?

I would absolutely love to have dynamics with the U-HE touch ;-)

Thank you!

I've recently thought that I'd rather add a versatile compressor to Uhbik, and maybe a gate/expander as well. Or make the compressor do that too.

That said, I'd still love to do a dynamics bundle, but given the sheer number of projects ahead, I might need to let go of this. I'm currently even thinking to shuffle projects so that the drum machine becomes part of Berlin Modular, and leave the idea for Lush for a dedicated digital synth, as Lush doesn't lend itself so well to the cable paradigm.

Sounds very good to me actually.

Sometimes "less" is more :-)

Thanks a ton!

Sounds really nice!

hehe, it's this kind of talk that'll get you in trouble! ;)

Yeah, I'm not promising anything though... just thinking out loud.

A modular combination of step sequencers and little minisynths sounds very tempting to me though. This wouldn't necessarily be a drum machine, but it could operate as one if wired up so. And a clever keyboard layout could add some really intrigueing performance aspects.

I am not able to enable the vst's inside Notion, I see them but Notion refuse to enable them.

I am running osx 10.6.4 on a macbook pro intel duo core

Anybody knows anything about my problem?

btw, it works great inside Logic

Thanks / Ulrik
So, after a few mails with Notion it's clear that it's the surround-aspect of them that Notion is picky about. I have a direct link to the devloper in charge now, and I hope I can convince them to either implement hosting for surround plugins, or handle anything u-he as an exception because these also process stereo without sniffing at it.

That sounds great, I really hope they will take it under serious consideration. Thanks for the concern, much appreciated!

Sorry, I don't have the time to read this thread but just posting to be asured if these are some known possible issues with Uhbik v 1.1

-Uhbik-A: the modulation works with the "small" and "direct" operation modes but it doesn't seem to work with the "open" one.

-Uhbik in general in FL Studio. Modulation effects start to crackle when pushed too hard or fast. For exemple the Uhbik-F set to 1 quarter and the mod depth to max.
However, this can be fixed under the wrapper's processing oprtion if you check the "use fixed size buffers" (use block size as buffer size) but the bad part about this is that it adds some extra latency.

Post

Hi 3ee,

The modulation on "open" is much more subtle than on the other modes, that's true. That's because it's a completely different algorithm - it has some very short delays that simply can't be modulated any deeper. Nevertheless, the modulation adds audibly more life into "open" - hope you can agree on that :)

Regarding the crackle isssue, please test the latest betas:

http://www.u-he.com/downloads/u-he_Win_22062011.zip
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/u-he_MacAU64_22062011.zip

I've run numerous tests - The only way for me to get crackles is by using a default.h2p with "!BLOCK_LATENCY_OFF=YES" (to switch off the 16 samples latency of my stuff). This only works if the host continuously feeds audio in buffers that have a size of a multiple of 16, e.g. 32, 64, 160, 256. FL Studio often feeds oddly sized buffers unless you set it to use a fixed buffer size. Hence I would not recommend that setting for FL :-|

Cheers,

;) Urs

Ever thought about grabbing and improving the concept of Elektron Monomachine and Machinedrum? Combining both with Uhbik-M :D

Yes, it does make it better. Where the other two operation modes sound chorus-like when the modulation is used... the open one sounds flangy.

Well, don't know for sure what's really going on in there, but the wrapper's settings keeps going through a lot of "odd" changes lately, tryed to discuss some issues a while back on the image-line forum, but they seem to be fed up with "fixing" the wrapper again and again.
Anyway, I have to use fixed size buffers for some Uhbik units in order to run them smoothly.

Testing Uhbik 1.2 now, found a GUI knob glitch atm (knobs appear to be jumping (only visually)to about 70% and back again if the knob was tweaked from the minimum or near minimum value ...and it also seems that the liniar VS circular modes are overlaying a bit.
