Hello,
i would like to share my Free Zebra Soundbank with you.
here it is: http://www.sendspace.com/file/z0n8yp
Its basically just for sounddesigners since its all basic Osc from scratch without any tweeking "mostly".
I simply converted 51 High Quality Instrument Samples from this site, with the Blueberrything to OSC Presets. And then created one patch for every OSC Preset. Nothing much more.
I added 3 or 4 of my favourite samples in addition but nothing too special.
It just about having the OSC presets basically.
I got the samples for free from this site.
http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/index.html
The site is down sadly..a few days ago it was still up, maybe they got some technical problems or whatever.
Ok, i hope you enjoy them and maybe leave some feedback.
I got amazing results , when i opened a random preset from somebody else and just changed through the OSC Presets.
Instruments covered: -Bass
-Cello
-Clarinet
-Flute
-Horn
-Oboe
-Sax
-Trombone
-Viola
cheers Mark

Cool i'll check them out. I did lots of experimenting with those samples trying to combine 16 of them into something natural sounding. Can't say i was too successful but it was a fun experiment.

Yea, dont expect a natural sounding violin or something, its just one waverepitition somewhere out of the whole sample. But it took me quite a bit to manage all the samples so i hope you enjoy them..

There are very interesting waveforms in this! These might be a good starting point for some synthesized clarinets and stuff

Glad you like it Urs. I might go through the SoundonSound synth tutorial pages and try to create something more advanced out of this pack..but i doubt this will happen this year
This page i mean..in combination with the waveforms might be good
But its a lot of work at least to go through all the pages
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/allsynthsecrets.htm
If some of you know good other resources were synth technics are described..like how to create a natural sounding clarinet or saxophone , it would be nice to share here..
thx!

I'm brand new to Zebra, so I really don't know what I'm supposed to do to install these. I believe my presets are in:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugIns\u-he\Zebra2.data\Presets\Zebra2
I tried to unzip your file to that location. WinZip gives me the following message:
Error: The system cannot find the path specified.
Cannot create C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugIns/u-he/Zebra2.data/Presets/Zebra2/Zebra2.5 Nano-SourceSoundbank + OSC Presets/.DS_Store
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Try installing the version I uploaded to the u-he patchlib, that zipfile is sanitized for both Mac and PC. The .DS_Store file is an artifact of the OS X filesystem.

Also, if you are on Vista or Windows 7 I highly recommend moving your VSTs outside of the Program Files directory. You can read about the reasons why in this thread:

Good luck.

Managing the patchlib has made sanitizing zipfiles for both mac and pc users 2nd nature to me now, I sometimes forget I even do it.
BTW, I had a chance to explore your presets and was impressed with how close some of the instruments sounded (the bassoon was quite good for such a small waveform). Of course it's no multi-giga-orchestra soundbank but IMO that's not the point.
Thanks for sharing, I certainly appreciate it.
Cheers!
