I think that Scott aren't too keen on modifications of his work, it would be best if you had contacted him by mail before (maybe you did, I dunno).
If you didn't I suggest you send him a mail and ask for permission (just do a google search for witchgraft and you should find him).
Just because the skin is free doesn't mean one can do whatever one thinks with it, even though you just improved it alot

hi stupid question 101... how does one change the ACE skin on both mac or PC....
I know how to do it for zebra, but there is no similar folder (at least on the mac) for ace that I can find.....

Well... best way is to rename original ACE.txt into ACEorig.txt add a new ACE.txt and ACEdefault.txt as seen in MFM2 and Zebra2, and then add skins as themes into the themes folder. It's a bit tricky though.zvenx wrote:hi stupid question 101... how does one change the ACE skin on both mac or PC....

When he makes skins, are those demo versions he works with, and does he ask permission to make modifications to the look of their original work?Limeflavour wrote:I think that Scott aren't too keen on modifications of his work, it would be best if you had contacted him by mail before (maybe you did, I dunno).

He posted his skins with a resource editor (crack included). Scott also bundles his skins with group releases and is a 'valued' member of a Russian 'club' board I'm sure you're familiar with.Urs wrote:
Regarding the ban thing, there was some discussion here because he bundled a copyrighted font once. Which is why that skin isn't available anymore. I think there was a bit more stuff somewhere else which led to the ban.
I don't think however that his work needs to be banned.

Ah, yes... good for him then that he doesn't need a resource editor for my skins.Bastiaan from Tone2.com wrote:He posted his skins with a resource editor (crack included). I've been a "valued" member there too for years - albeit for very different reasons than most of them

thanks.....maybe one day you will make it easy as with Zebra? where I think you just put the new theme in a special folder and it appears as an option in zebra?Urs wrote:Well... best way is to rename original ACE.txt into ACEorig.txt add a new ACE.txt and ACEdefault.txt as seen in MFM2 and Zebra2, and then add skins as themes into the themes folder. Fine looking skin. Great job fellas.
Great daytime skin
.
Urs, have you thought about doing skins the way Reaper does, by organizing them in to a theme directory and in zip files that contain descriptions and image resources ?
I find this method very clean and easy to organize. May be a bit more work for you, but it would make it easier for folks to customize the appearance of ACE and Zebra.
