If it is out of the way and does not use extra resources or have longer gui loading times, I don't really care if there are multiple instances of a synth built into one gui... I do figure I am paying extra for it though cause I guess the synth would cost less for 1 instance (layer). Regardless of those points, it is not some amazing feature cause one can already do that with any synth in ones host. Ohhhhhh, layering an instance of one preset with an arp along with a lead sound and splitting the keyboard!?!?! Been doing that for a long time... and quickly and efficiently.Echoes in the Attic wrote:I don't think anyone's complaining, feature set looks perfect. There's a tendecny lately for synths to basically have multiple full synths in one via different parts/layers. Just a discussion on the usefulness of that. Same can be seen in things like Omnisphere, Largo, Albino. Many of us don't care about multiple layers, but so do, so the conclusion is of course: Good to include for people who like it!
And of course if I have 4 different synths that have multiple instances built in, then I have to learn 4 different implementations instead of 1 in the host...or pay extra for the 4 synths and not use it. Basically that functionality should be at the host level. The real issue is that not all hosts offer it in an easy to use form so synth makers respond by adding the functionality which lets them also charge more for their product.
