Where did you downloaded the demo? I don't see it on the site.Exhile wrote:I tried the demo of these a few month ago and remember fiding the user interfaces awefull. Especially the preset browsers. I assume this still hasnt changed? The one i am mainly interested in tis the M1 and the Mono/Poly as they have so many classic sounds.
Thanks.
edit: i know now...register first.

Add to this list Tangerine Dream and just about any New Age artist from the 80's/90's. Johannes Schmoelling used a MonoPoly around the time of Poland (it's on the Poland album). Then you hear a lot of Wavestation and M1 type patches beginning with the "Glide" patch on Raccoon and patches like Deep Atmosphere throughout some of the albums done in the 90s. EF had a T1, which was the higher end version of the M1. All the T1 disks are included within the virtual M1.
Other artists of note not mentioned below include Robert Rich and Steve Roach, both of whom used/are using the Wavestation.
A lot of M1 on the ABWH album, and also live and with Yes. Though I think for the live shows RW was actually using a T1 for a time.
I think Vangelis was using the M1 to cover some of the CS80 type sounds especially for live situations. I'm pretty sure one sees the rack version in some of the videos from around the time of Mythodea.
So... all of these might serve to illustrate that these synths are certainly very capable and tried. Though it should NOT mean that they're necessarily the way to go! Everyone has to make their own decision on whether these will fit with your music and your vibe. And... simply having the same equipment as your 'heroes' doesn't mean that you will be as good or as successful as they were/are, lol!
Personally, I would say though, that you probably wouldn't go wrong - especially at these prices. I think it's safe to say that all of the originals of these instruments are classics.

Demos just for registered users
Glad I own a nanoKontrol that I somehow registered already.
Demos are ok. You hear a lot of good things about the Korg stuff. Somehow, the synthesizers doesn't do it for me. Mono/Poly is nice but for the quick spin it didn't clicked with me. I like Wavestation the most.

It's rather simple: to be able to buy it in good conscience, you need a demo. To get a demo, you first have to buy it. Clever, clever.digitalmessiah wrote: Where did you downloaded the demo? I don't see it on the site.
Thanks.
I tried the MS-20, downloaded at a whopping 20 KB/s. From Korg. In 2010. Oh well... I don't think it'll add anything new to my palette, seeing as I have Synth Squad and ACE all revved up. Dated interface + wobbly cables that obstruct said dated interface. Sound is nice, though, but nothing I can't get otherwise. Having never heard a real MS-20, I can't compare, but more knowledgeable men than me told me it's pretty close, although they didn't quite get the filter resonance right.
I'll pass. So many bargains already, and most Christmas sales haven't even started!
