Erm, never update when you're in a project...

Vojtech, I'm pretty sure it's an Ableton thingie but you can probably help...

I used MDrummer to my complete satisfaction (as all of melda's plugs) until I updated Live to 8.2.1 last night. It was a separate install, so I could use my old setup at the same time (read: Live 8.1.4). But since this install Live doesn't see MDrummer anymore, both versions deny to find it during a VST-folder scan.

It's simply gone! I already did a re-install but it didn't help. Do you have a hint what I could do? Thx in advance,

Elassi

Hi Elassi,

ok, first check MDrummer.dll is actually there and the update didn't change the VST plugins path. If everything seems fine, try to remove the DLL, start Live, close Live, place the DLL back, start Live again. You can also try reinstalling MDrummer, but I doubt it would help if the DLL is there and it was working before.

Cheers!

Well, all of these tricks didn't help. :(

But thanks a lot for your help. And a double thanks for the standalone version of MDrummer. Remembering it was my rescue. Instead of trying all day I simply used this and it saved my ass. :)

ps. I'll keep you informed if Ableton support comes with an explanation.

Go into preferences and hold down the Alt key while clicking rescan - it will delete the plugin database and rescan everything. It's worked for missing plugs for me in the past.

Hmm, ok I'll try to get the newest version so I can check myself. Can you get the previous version?

So I checked the newest Live and everything seems fine here (Win7 64). Are you sure the VST plugins path is correct? Maybe try to reinstall Live.

Or a little extreme theory: maybe try to copy the MDrummer.dll VST plugins from MDrummer installation directory (the DLLs should be there as a backup). If Live mingled the DLLs or even worse a virus... Probably not, but it's worth checking.

Thank you for your efforts, guys. :)

I tried the "copy DLLs from Melda-dir" but with no luck. A re-install of Live didn't help either. I can see Live noting MDrummer during the scan (it displays its name), so it reads the dll at least but skips it or refrains from listing it in the final VST-list.

Unfortunately I have no time to do further tests at this time (out now til sunday) but won't give up. *bitter laugh*

Thanks god I have the standalone-option. Also have MDrummer running well on my laptop (with Live 8.1.4) so I could use it as an emergency option. However, this prob must be solved in the near future. I got used to MDrummer too much.

Add: Also copied the DLLs from the laptop (v 3.01b) to my main machine but with no luck. Plus did the "old preferences trick" for Live meaning to delete its preferences.cfg file. Nothing helped.

But f***, we'll fix it on another day. :)

Hoooray!

Did a complete re-install of both Live and MDrummer and found that vcredist-something has not been installed correctly (Win told me). So, did it again as but this time as "administrator" and voila! Everything's fine again!

Thanks Vojtech and Robojam for your kind help and hints. :)
