Noticed (unfortunately) that only the left output channel of Unique is wired to both cannels of an instrument slot in Acid Pro 7 so no stereo panning is possible.

Tried this with various soundcards under Windows XP SP3 (32 bit)

I am not sure how Acid is handling stereo, but there is nothing special going on in Unique. Do you have the same problem with other VSTi's ?
You can also use the pan inside Unique!

Post

Thanks for getting back to me!
As far as I can say, your instrument is unique in that way too ;-) none of my other synths (and I got lots of these) show that problem.
It's the panning inside of Unique that causes the trouble because only the left channel is wired to both, left and right of an Acid instrument slot. If I pan the oscillators to the right I get silence. (besides the suboscillator)
Do you have Acid running on one of your computers to reproduce this?

Does this happen with a special preset or always ?
I'll see whether i find a machine to install acid on. Last time i installed Acid it was a real pain seeing my system getting overloaded with strange sony crap.

Post

This is a basic problem, no matter which preset you use.
I'm using Vegas and DVD-Architect alongside with Acid for quite a while now and never got installed anything unwanted so this must be a demoversion thing ;-)
Thanks for your effort!

Is there really no Unique owner that uses Acid Pro and can confirm this bug?

Hello SugarBytes team,

seems like you didn't find time to look into this yet.
Is there a chance to get this problem solved or least confirmed?

I tried it with the acid pro 6 demo and everything worked.
Does the standalone work correctly ?

Post

Yes, standalone works flawless. In this version one selects the soundcard input channels separately. In Acid Pro, wiring seem to be somehow different, in the preferences / audio device / advanced tab I see a multimono input besides the separate ones?

Looks like the audioengine of Acid Pro has undergone some substantial changes from version 6 to 7 (mixing console e.g.)

I had a closer look at acid on the weekend again.
And had the same problem you described.
I am not sure whether the problem was not there on my first test or whether i somehow did not realize it.
The strange thing is that there is nothing wrong going on from our side.
We get valid 2 channels from Acid which we fill with data. It's just Acid not using the data from the right channel. I double checked all related code fragments and could not find an error or a hint what could go wrong.
We never had any stereo related problem in any host. So for now it's really a mystery to me why Acid thinks we are mono. I'll try to reach an Acid developer, but i don't think this will be easy.
Maybe you can contact Acid support to ask for a solution or a hint.

Best,
Robert

Thanks Robert,

you are right, it's mysterious and it'll be not easy to get a Sony developer looking into this.
Of course I will contact Sony support and see what they think ;-)
