Purchasing a used Receptor, caveats?

Hi,
There's a used v1 Receptor in a local store, basic 40gig hdd version.
Just wondering if there's anything I should be aware of if I decide the buy it?
I will be running Kontakt 2, mainly.

- I believe the last v1 OS update allows individual routing to ADAT outputs, right?
- Is the HDD user-replaceable? The small size is fine for my needs, but I'd like the security of having a full hardware drive backup.

Oh, and what would be a reasonable used price for a vanilla v1?

Thanks,
Sk

Anybody?
Wow, 167 views, zero replies. Is Receptor a dying/dead platform, or..?

I do not have answers for all your questions, but at least I'd make sure that it has 2 GB RAM (this is user upgradeable). Officially, the harddisk is not user upgradeable. Some people have done it, but you need special tools & skills to do this.

Thanks for your reply, fedde, I appreciate it.

Do you use a v1 Receptor yourself? If so, how do you find the stability & reboot times? These will be of most importance for me as I'm looking at stable options to take on tour.

..Looks like you're the only one who cares about a fellow potential Receptor user.. You guys are weird in here :nutter:

I dont own a Receptor but I read the threads, it seems a V1 Receptor is limited in what plugs you can run and you cant easily update it to be more compatible.

I'm only interested in running Kontakt 2, nothing else. Looks like that's supported?

Kontakt 2 is absolutely supported and should work fine for you. I think you have 8 ADAT channels but check the manual available on Muse website. As fedde said you want 2gb of ram. You may need to do the upgrade yourself. I've cloned the drive but I took the drive out to do it. Others I believe have found a way to get into the linux os and do it internally. If you physically take the drive out you can clone it to most any IDE drive and drop it in. I believe John Rule, another contributer to this Receptor forum, has succeeded in using a SATA drive so you might look up his posts to see as well as other stuff he has done with a Receptor 1.

Hope that helps
Jon

Great, thanks for the information, much appreciated :)

I used to have a Receptor B. It worked great with Ivory, VB3 and Mr Ray 73.

Now I have a Receptor 2 Pro. The nice thing about it is that I can run my plugins at 32 sample buffer size now (so even less latency)!
