I see some very innovative ideas there. Has anyone actually tried it out? Always loved the visual tools like in Metasynth. Looks very intuitive!

I dowloaded the demo and was most impressed with the ability to quadmorph audio files. Its strange how it can analyze the audio files and I guess figure out how to make each one of different length and format into a viable wave table or whatever. This adds a heap of sonic possibilities. BUT Zebra sounds so damn good. There's something creamy about zebra and subjectively there's a bit of clinical feeling in the cameleon. Listen, I probably don't know what I'm talking about. This is purely subjective. I don't understand nor do I want to understand the technical part of synth math. I'm just curious and wondering and dreaming that if Zebra could input audio files and morph between them as part of its synthesis what a wonderful world it would be...

Futhurmore. If Zebra could import .BMP files (or any other graphic format file) and do a audio interpretation of a still image, Then it would be the only synth I would ever use. I know I'm showing my ignorance by suggesting this but what the heck. Then if Zebra could import video files and figure out a way to translate the rate of change into viable sound parameters. Then the world would be beyond wonderful...

Hahaha,

interesting ideas, indeed :D

All I can say, there is something in the pipeline.

Cameleon is great in its own way. Don't expect me to try to compete with it. My realm is more in the crazy/creative field :D

But the next revision of Zebra will be huge. I delayed the V1.1, because there had been some new concepts I was just too excited to add in. The next revision will most likely jump to V1.5 to emphasize the very BIGNESS of the update.

After that, I'll also deal with samples. Not exactly like in Cameleon, nor inside Zebra itself, but most likely free for existing Zebra users. Probably not out before end of April or even way later...

Is there any chance of this becoming a PC thing?

Yes, but it's currently not on a prominent position on my priority list.

The next version of Zebra will contain special code for G4/G5 processors with AltiVec instruction set, so a port will be even harder...

I want to get stuff over to VST and to Win, but only when I can say "Ok. This is all I ever wanted. I can't make it any better for a while.", because it's such a pita to maintain multiple platforms while you're still adding huge concepts...

So: yes, but not very soon...

nice to follow your vision, urs..I can be patient for the pc port. (well, not really, but I don't have the choice :D )

Post

No pressure, Urs...but this PC owner would definately leap on the U-he bandwagon.

Post

Nah, no pressure here :D

I've played with the upcomming enhanced version for some days now... having some more synthesis options is definately something to drool about... it's getting kinda luxury, kinda - uhm, I say it - modular... stay tuned!

I think it's nice that PC users have to wait for something... So take your time Urs!

Ha Ha...
