Slow Receptor Remote Window Redraw

Got a problem for you to chew on, maybe you can help me out?

Recently, my Receptor Remote GUI has decided to get sluggish, and it appears to be related to the Receptor slowly updating the Remote window on my Mac. For example, clicking on something on the Receptor Remote Mix page causes the Receptor itself to respond instantly (which I can tell by the audio effect and by the instant GUI change on a display plugged directly into the Receptor) but my Receptor Remote GUI takes anywhere from a brief delay up to maybe 15 seconds to update, depending on the amount of graphics it must redraw. If I attempt switch from the Mix page to the Setup page, it takes 10 to 15 seconds to update the Remote GUI, whereas clicking a channel selector might take two to five seconds, and clicking the mute or solo button is a fraction of a second (but noticeable).

According to the Mac's Activity Monitor utility, my computer is receiving Receptor Remote re-draw data at a rate of about 20KB/s, which is quite slow and certainly explains the sluggish response. The question is - why? Any ideas? I can't correlate this new behavior to any computer or Receptor software updates or installs I may have made, though I suppose it's possible - I just don't remember.

Oh yes, it's a Receptor 1 Pro/Rev. C, in case that matters. I have the latest Receptor and Receptor Remote versions installed, though these are nothing new. Computer is running OS 10.6.4.

Thanks!

Batgab,

Next time you have the Remote viewer window open go to the "Receptor remote viewer' drop down menu at the top of the screen and click on 'preferences'. The first screen that opens is about performance and gives you a few options for redraw rates. I'd make sure the redraw rate for the "front most window" is set as high as it can go.

Thanks for responding, Kevin. Unfortunately, that setting is (and was) set to max as you suggested.

My latest symptom update is that when I power up the Receptor, the front panel controls work normally, but when I subsequently start the Receptor Remote Control, the GUI comes up black, stays black, and the Receptor front panel controls quit working; i.e. they are frozen in their last state.

I think my next desperate step will be to ensure all the internal boards and connectors are seated, then if that doesn't work I'll open a ticket.

Thanks,

Kevin and Batgab,

I too have been having this issue, but with Receptor 2 and a Macbook Pro 2.6Ghz. All software is the latest. My delays take closer to 30 sec, and are especially bad with Kontakt 4.1 instantiated.

Sorry for the repeat posts regarding 4.1, but I'm seriously trying to get to the bottom of why Kontakt 4.1 causes so many problems with the Receptor 2.

Have you found any other fixes for the slow redraw?

Interesting. Thanks for posting your situation, kungfudrummer.

Solved! Two things conspired to cause my problem.
1. Mac OS update issue required the solution described here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 53#4338353.
2. I simultaneously (!) had an ethernet switch crap out on me, so that was replaced and now I am back in business.
