Dear Anyone.

I've just got Zebra 2. Tried out Lord of the Strings - and the sounds got LOWER as I played higher notes!! So I played the same note repeatedly and discovered Zebra cycles through five notes and a seemingly random sixth even if you're just pressing the same key all the time!

I'll admit cheerfully to not being good at spotting things in manuals. Which is why, despite studying the manual, I can't find a reason for this. How do you just make it play the note you press, not cycle through five notes (plus the random one!)

Yours puzzledly

Chris

" Keyboard-Tracking " parameter.

" Voice-polyphony " restriction/implementation (on sustained notes ect...)

It's the demo mode... the 5 notes are a progression of c-e-b-r-a where r is a random note.

Once registered, it goes away and plays nicely :)

I misunderstood that point...

It's so unbelievable :)

I'm so totally lost in trying to get all this technology doing what I want instead of just laughing at me every time I try to make it actually play tunes, despite having read a ton of PDFs/textbooks/online website tutorials that I honestly couldn't tell you. I have to use single-sound VSTs on the whole because I'm disabled, I use a notation package and it only puts effects on the front end of things. So if you're using a multi-sound package (Proteus VX for example) it'll put blanket EQ on all the sounds you're using from it, you can't put effects on indvdual sounds. I wanted decent strings, I read how good Zebra was so I went onto Ebay and bought a copy for £40. The CD turned up, I installed it and hit this strange five-note cyclical problem. I found a copy of the manual online, downloaded it, read it all the way through and it didn't mention this problem anywhere. So I thought I'd post a question to find out what I was doing wrong. I spend 90% of my time battling incredible software problems and only 10% actually making frigging music and I can never get any of my sounds sounding anywhere near as good as anyone else can and I'm damned if I know why. I can write tunes. I can't sort out friggin' software. I DO read textbooks/manuals but what they SAY will happen is NEVER what ACTUALLY happens when I try to follow their instructions.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question any better. Please feel free to PM me any time. I could do with a bit of help/cheering up right now, I'm getting so I just want to junk the computer, but something always tells me that if I could just get so I can handle the software, I could write good music because my tunes are good. They just sound bad because I can't make the software play ball. YET!

Yours in friendship. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Chris.

I'm really sorry, but no Zebra for 40 quid on eBay has ever been legit.

I'm surprised though as I check eBay regulary and havn't come across a warezed Zebra in years. Maybe I havn't looked deep enough.

You should definately contact eBay and file a lawsuit against the seller.

That said, the next guy who tells me face to face that piracy does not hurt anyone will be disabled too.

lol, took me a second to understand the pun. cebra :-) You are incredible Urs.

As soon as I am a little less broke, I'll get ACE. I soooo have the urge to support you.

*walks away humming "no matter what you say and no matter what you do...."*

@Chris: sorry to hear that you have been scammed on ebay :( I hope you can sort it out

I'm sorry to hear this, what everybody say in this thread is true: the only legitimate way to purchase Zebra is doing it from it's developer (Urs) at his site, u-he.com. As Urs says, try to contact e-bay for a refund.

Also, you should ask for help here at KvR everytime you have a problem with your software. Be sure that you'll always find someone to aid you, it doesn't matter if it's a serious issue or a silly thing, always ask for help here instead of battling the problem alone.

So does ACE play those 3 notes in demo mode?
