Yes, it's easy to say... BTW as you can imagine:

1st it's a massive job to work as a beta tester for such a massive synth. So a lot of bugs have been found and solved, I think the beta group have done a great job and Markus have worked really hard to solve the most important problems and every single bug reported in the beta stage. The problems reported are minus problems very common in a first release.

2nd as you already know, I think, what's happening is very common for a 1.0 release. Someone once said (in another thread) that he avoid to buy 1.0 releases :lol: Well the first release of a software always shows such problems, just like said above there are more users using the software in different ways and with different computer setups, so the unspotted bugs come to the surface. And this is why usually a 1.0 version is shortly followed by an update. Very common, no need to be surprised (this happens at any release).
This is why I always say when a synth first comes out it should be discounted for early adapters.
I think you mean "adopters" but I get your point and I agree. In this case it could mean adapters as you'd have to adapt your work flow to deal with the bugs. Another way around this is to have an "open beta" phase. This is how we do it in the game world a lot of the time. Helps narrow down some of the weirder bug issues.

That said, the demo seems to run well on my run 'o the mill Dell. It does pop a web browser up, which is like having a pushy sales person interrupting you and it seems to crash the latest version of Live sometimes when this happens. Bad form.

The synth does sound great I must say, but I really had no doubt it would. Cold and digital but sweet. Great presets, though I'd like to tell all developers to ditch pan flute presets. No one likes them. I'll probably get it for sure but I'm short money until the first of next month. I wonder if I'd qualify for Bifilter. If they just discounted it the cost of Bifilter I'd already own it. Bifilter seems nice but I just don't really need it.

Yesterday I attended a funeral and the 'organis', was playing lead on some pan flutey thing whilst the collection was being taken and I had the exact same thought.
I remember that ElectraX had panflutey type sounds and had wondered why... kill the damn pan flute, enough already..., and then during church yesterday I heard the pan flute sound again and wondered to myself am I the only one who finds them old, overused and way too cliche? and wish we would never hear them again?

We are on the same page with this one zeroc (can I call you that :-)0

----------------------

Q: Will there be additonal soundsets for ElectraX?
A: We plan to release a soundset in January.

----------------------

Q: How can i morph wavetables:
A: - Select 'Virtual Analog' as synthesis method
- Select a Wavetable waveform (starts with WT)
- Select 'Crossblend PW' as quality mode in the settings box on the middle bottom
- Use PW knob to Morph

----------------------

Q: Does the PW knob (pulsewidth control) also work with resynthesized waveforms?
A: Yes. This gives some very interesting transitions. I found this usefull for pads, leads or shaping formants in vocals.
- Select 'Wavetable' as synthesis method
- Resynthesize a waveform by importing a WAV or import a single cycle waveform.
- Now you can use PW to control the pulsewidth of the waveform. This works with every waveform.
- The custom waveform is automatically stored with the patch (fxp). You don't have to manage files on the harddisc.

----------------------

Q: I am a customer and have a feature request. Where is the right place for this?
A: http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?topic=474.0

----------------------

Q: I am impressed by the sound of the analog filters. How do they work?
A: ElectraX has two identical filters per layer, each with an excellent range of filters to
sculpt your sound. The output from each oscillator can be routed to either filter 1 or 2 or
any proportion in between (60% to Filter 1, 40% to Filter 2 for example).
ElectraX's analog filter types - LP12 /18/ 24, HP12 /18/ 24 and BP12 /18/ 24 are circuit
modelled. Great care was taken to emulate the characteristics of hardware analog filters
down to the circuit level. These characteristics to the filter's sound can be reduced or
augmented by the ANALOG control knob.

----------------------

Q: Will there be an Xmas sale from Tone2?
A: Disounts devaluate the products and annoy customers who payed the regular price. We try to keep our prices as stable as possible.

----------------------

Q: The action synth presets, sound great, how exactly we're they made? they sound like different layers,one part had drums, and then a synth, is it possible for me to make similar layers with the presets within this synth or?
A: Yes. You can build up such presets for yourself. Every layer is a complete synth with an own arpeggiator. For example you can for stack a drum computer on a 303 and a pad. This is nice for life performances and fun to play.

-----------------------

Q: Does it not support midi program changes?
A: Yes. Make sure that your hosts forwards the midi messages to the plugin.

-----------------------

Q: How can ElectraX be compared with Gladiator?
A: Both products are virtual synthesizers from Tone2. However they are very different products and sound very different. We have taken big care that the feature-sets and concepts of both products do not overlap.

-----------------------

Q: I don't like the GUI.
A: Tone2 ElectraX ships with four different skins. It can be changed in ElectraXskin.txt
This file defines the Skin configuration for the interface.
Change the number in the first line and save this textfile to activate custom skin settings.

Configuration:

1 = Default setting; White skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
2 = Black skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
3 = Orange skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
4 = Grey skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
5 = White skin for all pages;
6 = Black skin for all pages;
7 = Orange skin for all pages;
8 = Grey skin for all pages;

----------------------

Q: Will there be soundsets?
A: Yes. We plan to release a soundset at the beginning of 2011. It will contain a large number of additonal presets. Beside of that we expect that a large number of 3rd party soundsets.

----------------------

Q: Is this synth suitable as a sound design target?
A: Definitely! We have taken a lot of care on this aspect. There are huge possibilities. Custom samples and and wavetables are bundeled with the fxp file. 3rd party developers can even create installers for their soundset. You can create own categories (directories) and manage the content on your harddisc. The plugin automatically detects your pataches and lists them in the preset browser.

----------------------

Q: Is there a VST 64 bit version of ElectraX?
A: Yes. If you purchase a full version you'll receive a dowload link for the 32 as well as the 64 bit version. The demo is 32 bit only.

----------------------

Q: How does FM work? / FM does not work as expected?
A: You must first switch the FM source (modulator OSC) to 'ON' (this is the OSC above the current one). Otherwise the carrier gets modulated with random noise. Please take a look at our handbook to learn how FM patches are created. The init patch 'FM synthesis' is also a good point to start. Since the behavoiur of the FM feature seems to confuse some users we will think about improving the usability for the next update.
The update will be for free for all ElectraX customers.

----------------------

Q: I experience problems when i close and reopen the GUI.
A: Some users have reported this problem to us. It seems to happen in some hosts. Our test team will examine it and we will provide a free update as soon as possible.

----------------------

Q: Why does the tone2 website open so frequently?
A: If you click on the Tone2 logo above the preset browser you are able to visit our website. Please note that we do not hurt your privacy, transmit any data or log information. We have noticed that some users accidently clicked on the logo and complained about frequent website popups. We will place the logo on a different place or show an additional dialog box which asks yes/no in the next update.

----------------------

Q: Where can i get support?
A: Please refer to our support section:
http://www.tone2.com/html/support_-_faq.html
We also offer a forum for customers:
http://www.tone2.org/forum/
Our support service is for free.

----------------------

Q: I think i found a bug. What can i do?
A: Tone2 is known for the high quality of the products. We do excessive beta testing before the release of the products.
If you still experience problems you can use this web from to write a bug report to our technical support. We will examine your report and try to fix your problem as soon as possible.
http://www.tone2.com/html/bug_reporting.html

----------------------

Q: How do I receive updates?
A: We will notify you by e-mail about product updates. You don't have to pay for minor updates (e.g. 1.3 to 1.4). They are free and are sent out automatically by e-mail when they are available

----------------------

Q: Is is possible that you extend the 10 minute demo time limit?
A: You can get another 10 minute period by reloading the plugin. We will discuss if we can extend the time limit for the demo in the next update.

----------------------

Please note that we do not longer provide support on kvr. Thank you for your understanding.
If you still have questions please refer to the support section on our website. We will try to answer your concerns as soon as possible.

Hallo Markus,

Beleidigungen verstehe...;)

Freu mich auf Updates und Patches!

Hi Markus, ElectraX is a brilliant synth! i'm so glad i bought it. Just a couple of problems though, i find that ElectraX seems to modulate itself in Ableton Live 8.1.3 & 8.2 through the modwheel knob on the GUI unintentionally,this happens even if i change preset an remove all midiCC from a knob/ all MidiCC assignments every time i change preset . It seems like the Modwheel knob affects the cutoff ..so at the start of the sound the cutoff is high an then fades back to normal when there is no automation intended. Please fix this ..it is very annoying ..for my new go to synth. Excellent work !! :hihi:

Guys, I think you'd better post your current ElectraX problems in the Tone2 forum, because you will more likely get support for them there :wink:

I changed my opinion and I bought ElectraX although it is not cheap.
It is a too good synth not to have it. :-)

By the way: I had mail contact with the Tone2 boys.
I think that they are nice guys. :-)

Hey Markus,

is there a roadmap for the first update, maybe something only for customers to see, when they are logged in on your page?

Cyph

PS: The first impression has been amazing. As a Sonar User I am now patiently (but curiously as well) waiting for the update.
Finally!

I like the ElectraX so much that I would like to have more sounds.
I would like to have more ambient sounds and more classical sounds like
J.M. Jarre, Tangerine Dream.....
I think that a Bigtone soundset as done for the Albino 3 would be great.
Are new sounds in the pipeline?

And an Ian Boddy soundset a la Albino would be awesome too.
