...oh....................i'm sorry...

...high enough to the point that uad studer plugin sounds like a fart compared to ferric...is this high enough for you? ...otherwise i could ever take a gun and shoot in Nebula..no?!?..even the gun isn't loud enough?!?

I do not like to be rude...but...man...you posted twice without giving an opinion, and your second post seemed an interrogation....not that you has both,Nebula and UAD? :D :D :P

I prefer A .. Sounds somehow smoother and just better .. There's some shrilling and sizzling high frequencies in B that I don't like. Maybe aliasing LOL!
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

...one or to day from now...just enough time to reach a statistically reliable number of opinions :D

Sorry, I'm a little Nebula-ignorant. Where does one get the Nebula Studer A800?

The R2R and Tapebooster from CDsoundmaster

CDsoundmaster. Of course, thanks! Couldn't remember. Which collection is it in? R2R, I take it.

Oh sorry, shame on me Barendse

...but you too missed my first post...

so my answer to your second post is the same: the signal was pushed hot enough to saturate Uad and hot enough that pushing the signal 2 dB more causes Nebula to break up and sounds farty too (as the other thread starter say in his thread)...however the libraries he used for Nebula, if i remember correctly, are those the R2R collection, CDSoundmasters R2R Studer and Tape Booster +

I want only to show that FerricTDS is capable to manage hot signals, and to sound virtually indistinguishable,or at least as good, as Nebula Studer itslef...
...we can't say the same for Uad Studer..right?..maybe wrong settings on uad?...who knows... :hihi: :hihi:

What I'm wondering is if you don't push UAD into "farty" and turn up the output instead, if it'll sound similar, or at least good? UAD has more under-the-hood tweaks too...

I thought the Uad sounded good, just distorted but it was not nasty distortion to my ears lol

yes...for sure it will sound less "farty" but even with an high crest factor (more peaks and less rms...) or, in other words, you would lose the real advantage of a tape machine: "free" (read "musically pleasant compression and distortion") rms gain and peaks damping...

Well, there's also harmonic saturation and EQ characteristics, but I see what you mean. I really get the impression that UAD Studer is not meant to be driven hard. It would seem odd to me after all this effort that they made something that's easily defeated by the others. Then again, VarietyOfSound is operating in the stratosphere of analog-modeling development... :hihi:

And heck, I manged to get pretty close to a UAD Studer sound last night with my famous (only to me!) "Instant Mastering Tape" PSP Vintage Warmer preset, so who knows. Maybe UAD's just selling $350 worth of EQ and waveshaping.

I'm a little surprised the Nebula library can be driven harder, but I don't have any experience with the CDSoundmaster stuff. I'm attempting to try out his free R2R demo programs right now actually, but of course Nebula3 is acting up once again and I can't load any programs. :?
